Considering this is satellite, NOT landline, it's actually great. The exact words the girl activating my account were:

"You are not covered in your area, we do not guarantee you will get a connection, and you definately will not get high-speed"

Before you say that 1300kbps is slow, consider that most Australians are still sitting on a 1.5Mbit line (150kbps).

Exactly, whish they would fix it. Did you see news reports today that complaints for Internet, Mobile and Landlines are all up 128%, 87% and 56% on last year. It's disgusting...

Megabit, kilobyte. Nope, I got it right. I'm on 1.5Mbit and I cap out at just around 150kbps. Download overheads means that you usually drop down to about 80% of your theoretical maximum download speed.
