Icons are definitely the first thing to tackle with a mod.

You need [/img] to close it. Like on the forums.

use of MS Paint immediately puts this mod in the "never going to get past the first map" bucket

...seriously?

edit:

regarding your shoutbox post.
I'm not saying you suck at drawing. I'm saying these icons look like they were made in MSPaint.

If you have Fireworks, you have photoshop, right? Use that instead.

So, I didn't realize you knew how to code... ?

its easy to make an icon... very easy. what do you mean ico forms? all you do is make a bitmap file (40x40) then once made just rename it:
Flatlife.bmp ---> Flatlife.ico

Stick it in your mods folder, copy the hl.exe shortcut on your desktop, then change the pic..

There are icon suites out there for making "proper" icons. That is icons that have at least 256x256, 48x48, 32x32, 16x16 variants etc. Windows can take care of that by default, but the scaling method isn't that great, so it's usually better to make these versions yourself.

Actually, for icons, I would recommend Fireworks over Photoshop. It handles vector graphics and layers much more precisely.
