My computer is now officially finished!
I've gotten my image manipulation programs, Firefox, Steam, Steam games, etc. Installed.
It's nice to play on a computer that you put your sweat, (figuratively) tears, (figuratively) and blood (literally :|) into.
And the advanced shaders in Source working like they're supposed to doesn't hurt, either.

Brb, Half-life & HL2 play-through.

I remember the first time I played games on my current Pc, I could have cried with joy, but even now It's starting to struggle with certain settings on Just Cause 2, maybe it's time for an update...

It's an XFX GeForce GTS 250. If you're looking for a NVIDA card, then I recommend it, but if you have a large budget (over 950) then you could probably pick up a better one somewhere.

What are your specs? I don't see them in your older journals.

Dual Core 3GHz CPU with a 2MB cache, 1TB HDD with a 32MB cache, 512MB cache on the graphics card, and 4GB of Ram.
A lot of you will probably snort, but it's my first build, and I had a fairly tight budget considering this is a gaming PC. It suits my needs.

Tells us nothing. What model of CPU and graphics card? Clock speed, cache, and memory are not the deciding factors when it comes to hardware performance.

sigh There's no pleasing you, is there?
AMD Athlon II X2 250 processor, XFX GeForce GTS 250 Graphics card (as stated above)
I also have an Asus M4A785-M - AMD786/SB710 Motherboard, if that's of any interest to you.

Thinking that I'll put the playthroughs aside- I already caved and played HL2 before I finished HL1.

Can't wait to start mapping on this rig.
