I am playing Alan Wake and I am shitting myself. Well not literally but nearly. I was in this bit where I had to turn the power on in my house. I was ment to go in a shed next to the house, but instead I went upstairs into the left room. There was a small picture on a study. I clicked it and got a proper shock. Well anyway, I restored the power and I went upstairs with my wife - to the opposite room. She just told me she has a surprise for me and its on the study in the 'other room'. :|. I have a feeling I wasn't supposed to see the picture before hand. and now I have to go back in there. dam.
As for the game itself, I've played it for like 1 hour now and I love it. The environments are 8.5/10, Sound 10/10 (its that good!), Lighting 9.5/10, Spookyness 10/10, story so far is very cloudy, yet I believe thats how it was intended, so 8/10 for that.
If you've got an Xbox and you don't mind scary games, you must play this one. It is quite brilliant. I love it. Alright, back to the game now. Wish me luck :|.

It's also pretty damn ugly in places on the 360. Wish they never cancelled the PC version. ;(
On the other hand, the story was the only thing pushing me until the end, now that was interesting and mind-fucky. Atmosphere is okay too, but gameplay-wise it's predictable and boring.
Edit: Yeah, Remedy, for the love of God, go back to making action games.
Edit: Well if you don't have xbox you can always check the gameplay videos on youtube. Although thats not as good as the real thing.
@ Taylor; I haven't played it that far, these were my first impressions. I'm not really a big fan of horror movies or games however, so I did fall for the scary bits a couple of times; like the bit where the lights go out while your with your wife.

Well it all basically begins with you running over a hitchhiker accidentally. Convinientally he has an axe, and hes back from the dead seeking revenge etc. He's like some sort of a ghost, he uses the dark to his advantage, haunts you etc. The bit with the picture was one of the haunting bits; it's a classic move of one of those scary faces popping up on the screen. But that wasn't what really scared me, It was later on back in the same room. It's the middle of the night; you and your wife are talking. The lights go out. You are on the right side of the screen your wife is on the left. As thunder hits outside, the room lights up for a split second; and he is there, between both of you. I was like wtf! Well, It's not that scary, but it gets you paranoid, you never know when it might happen.
