Aight, i posted this in the ShoutBox, but no one ever really replies to me in there, but I recently (as in a few hours ago) got a hold of a 25$USD gift card, now L4D2 is 30$USD, and L4D1 is 20$USD, so should i save for another one of those sales steam has, or go ahead and buy L4D1?

I liked l4d1 better, the campaigns, characters and monsters all seemed very cool, new and awesome, but when l4d2 came out, I was kinda disappointed, I think I still prefer l4d1.
Ofc it's up to you, you can go for l4d2 if you want better grafix and better engine.

There's a black guy and a black girl in L4D2.

Also, its sooo much better. Hey well, never mind.

While I'd agree that the L4D1 characters are more likeable, after playing L4D2, L4D1 just feels like nothing more than a demo for it. You get a lot of cool stuff, sure, but not even close to the amount of cool stuff in the full game. (L4D2)

There's also the fact that L4D2 is far more likely to get the best community content, not to mention future updates and campaigns from Valve.

Also the first point is moot, as the L4D1 characters are in L4D2 now.

"not to mention future updates and campaigns from Valve." I find that line amusing.

Both aren't worth it. Buy something else.

What Luke said.

Yeah, after a single play-through, L4D1 and 2 are pretty god damn stupid and boring. L4D3 will probably be out next year already and it still won't be worth it. Get Borderlands and the zombie DLC for it, then you have a better game AND zombies.
Commented 14 years ago2010-08-07 15:03:27 UTC Comment #63706
I dunno, the zombie DLC was pretty crap.

But you have to admit, Dr.Ned's DLC was way better than the shitty Underdome one...

Save up for Fallout 3 if you're not going to get L4D.
Or save up and wait until Portal 2 or Ep3 come out.

Jeffmod wins this journal. Get Fallout 3, its much more fun out of the box than L4D, or L4D2, with mods, you can turn it into a (actually not crappy, I've tried it.) zombie apocalypse. And with the broken steel DLC, you DON'T get a shitty ass, disappointing as fuck, cheap ending (cough Borderlands cough)

I feel bad because I got L4D2 as a gift about 9 months ago (estimated) and I've played 11 hours total according to steam. (Most of it singleplayer just to play through the campaigns) I just can't get into it like I did L4D1.

"not to mention future updates and campaigns from Valve."

Half a year down the line.

"Get l4d3, L4D3 is far more likely to get the best community content, not to mention future updates and campaigns from Valve.
