Dr. Amazing's Mods of Awesome 2:

Mod name: Super Mario Star Road

Bet you weren't expecting this. A Super Mario 64 mod. When i first saw this I had a Nostalgia-gasm. After all Super Mario 64 is one of my favorite games of all time. This is like Super Mario 64 2
Fun Fact: Super Mario 64 2 was actually being developed for the N64DD until it was canceled in 1999.
Overall this mod was kind-of hard but that's probably because I was playing it thru an emulator using a PS3 controller. Speaking of emulator I suggest using Project64. There are a few things you have to do to get it running but it's all in the readme. Don't worry about being able to run it because my shitty computer could run it just fine.
The gameplay was spot-on. It really felt like it was something Nintendo would of released. That's all i have to say about the gameplay.
The Music was amazing (and I would know). There's over 50 new tracks.

I'll give this mod an 8/10

NOTE: There are some graphical glitches in it while playing it through Project64 but it wasn't even close to game breaking.

At the time I wanted to trade my SNES in for a N64 with Zelda but nobody wanted my SNES so I had to stick with it.

I don't regret that it didn't happen.

Oh I wish I still had my SNES and N64. They aren't cheap these days!

That's what emulation is for ;)

Emulation isn't as good as the real deal. There's something to be said for a controller in your hands and a cartridge in your peripheral vision. Also the emulators don't always render things properly, which sometimes kills gameplay.

Yes but it's a decent alternative if you can't get the real thing.

True. It is nice to be able to play your favorite non-PC games when the cartridge is AWOL. I miss my GBA version of Link to the Past... and the copy of Goldeneye my brother took to uni...

Emulation is good, but the consoles are so much better.

I'd love to own every old console I grew up with or ever just touched, and build myself a nerd shrine of 90's gaming. Don't judge me!

I fucking loved Super Mario 64, but eventually I gave up in frustration with this mod, simply because of the fact that jumping puzzles are impossible with the combination of the Super Mario style of controls, and me using a keyboard. I actually got a PS2 controller for PC's for Christmas, but it only works with Windows computers.
Anyway, in the first world I got up to King Bob-omb, but he threw me off the tower into the water below. I think I tried to get back up to him about ten times before I gave up. Those platforms mang.

Do you know just HOW MANY times I failed at beating Bowser in his Clown-head-ship?
