//update: Meh. It ran out of battery and the charger didn't work. I suspect it might be the reason she gave it to me. No time to go buy a new one, so I'm back to the old phone while I'm busy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
My sister got a new phone, and gave me the old one. My mother had used it before her, and after seeing it I'm guessing neither of them ever cleaned it. It's bloody filthy.
No box, no manual, no earplugs, nothing except that also filthy pouch (which I'll probably ditch) and a cheap aftermarket charger (that apparently messes up the screen when charging, I'm told) because who knows where the original charger is.
But, it's a Samsung 5500something, so if the battery lasts more than a day, it could be an interesting upgrade from
my old phone.
And yes, the battery is about my only concern. I don't care about the fancy gimmicks, I just want it to make and receive calls - which the old one did just fine.
[edit] definitely looks better now.
[edit2] I think this is an additional reason to set up that wireless network. Got the router months ago and never had time to set it up.
First of all, get off that foil. Unless it's a really expensive phone which doesn't use Gorilla Glass( hard to find one these days), it's really just a burden. You will throw the phone before it's surface will become unbearable to look at. I have my phone since 2011 and the screen still looks polished. Of course, I also never dropped it on asphalt. Just carpets :).
I do however like the fact you have a windows OS phone. i don't know much about them, but some of my friends who do seem to like them
And ^i.$ things can kiss my hairy arse.
BTW, considering the phones you've had, i don't think you've any business judging the new windows phones, Mister Flip-phone-until-recently guy
On a related note, I have an iPhone (work phone) and it's awful. After experiencing the blissful freedom of an Android tablet, the general shittiness and infinitely locked-down experience of the iPhone is just really fucking terrible. I'd much prefer a WinPhone over an iPhone, but Android is miles ahead of both in terms of features, user experience, and general non-crappiness.
Ant tells me that I only like Android because I'm a programmer but really it's because he's an Apple fanboy and doesn't realise how shit iOS is
I'd liek to root(htc rezound shit phone), but idk i cbf, and besides i just want a phone that works and doesn't freeze for no reason, nothing fancy! (so i will be upgrayeding to iPhone my next upgrayedd cycle.
I don't care if my phone is locked down, as long as it works. I mean it's a phone ffs what do you really need to do besides text/talk and social media bullshit? And, can't you jailbreak it if you want to fuck around anyway?
Or at least I can when I get a sim card that fits it.
At least I won't have to carry around a phone and an iPod.
I do look forward to being able to check my emails whenever, instead of when I happen to pass through a WiFi area.
The extra screen size is also lovely
Besides, it covers for any new things they can come up with. But I guess we could make it ^i[A-Z][a-z]*$ if you prefer
@captain: Actually, not here. I'm not in the States, I remind you. They don't offer iPhones with any plan here, it seems you have to get your own if you want one.
I'll try to find out what the internet costs are for my plan, maybe I can use this for... stuff.
I think there are Pip-boy apps, I want one
IF you get any older android phone, its probably best to root it and put Cyanogenmod on it. The level of control you have over your phone is insane - and it's stable to boot.
I have an old blue Galaxy S3 i'm not using. I'm willing to sell for the right price
Not sure if it's compatible with other carriers - I don't know how that works.
If you buy, i'll even throw Cyanogenmod on the phone for you
I have rooted a friend of mine's HTC One. (There are also UNROOT instructions floating around the webernetz)
Cyanogen > Any stock OS.
It doesn't use any bloat ware. Whatever is on the phone is put there by you.
I have an S4 now and I'm pretty close to rooting it because I've come across a few recurring bugs that are quite annoying.
Haven't set aside the time is my only excuse for not rooting it so far.
