Yes I was wrong about clipping causing invalids. I must of been thinking carving, but accidentaly typed clipping. I apologize for that mis information.

I still think clipping takes longer since you have to manually line up the clip for a perfect cut.

The difference between the Matrix and your Civil war movie is that that civil war movie is based on actual historical events. The maxrix is not. Opinion's and beliefs should not be made from movies only meant to entertain with a futuristic plot.

yes, but it does cause floating points, and its more difficult to make a linear cut thats at the desired slope. Thats why VM is better. THe points remain on the grid, and you have total control.

I understand what you mean ZL, but the books I mentioned go deeper into beliefs held now, (and some not realized). It helps people get a sense of society and how everything works off eachother. Sometimes it helps with personal questions an individual never knew needed answering. Im not saying theirs is a better belief than someone else, but simply pointing out that their entire lives revolved around them thinking this up. Compared to random people creating their beliefs as they go. Not only does it give a sense of what philosophy is when reading it, but also helps guide an individual with their character and outlook on the world. It teaches to think outside the box, see the world as something else, etc. I cant really summerize it in a paragraph.

ZL: These philosophical beliefs made in the past have been the basis for law, how to live ones life, government, etc everywhere around the world! Their influence cant be ignored. I just think you dont want to read their works, so you (And people like you) create their own weak empty beliefs concieved in an hours thinking compared to a lifetime of beliefs. I know philosophy is a very hard read and hard to get the jist of, but give it a chance before you go say its bad and not needed.

nickleplate, Hugh: Your missing the point here. One can find the Matrix storyline interesting and fun to think about, but dont take it as a serious philosophy meant to guide your beliefs. Thats pretty much what Hugh was saying. Thats wrong. Anyway the analogies and philosophy addressed in the Matrix only barely touches on the philosophy it was based on. I know Hugh has not read any such books because he used the matrix as an example. A fictional story.

These books I reference are the most highest most accepted forms of philosophy. These philosophers sat all day contemplating these thoughts and beliefs. I guess your personal philosophy is better than theirs right? They who's lives were consumed by their study of philosophy. Todays laws and politics take major root from books such as The Republic. To solve the problem with overcrowding in prisons and money for them:

Have all the prisoners work for FREE! Not get paid. There in jail... They do construction, pick fruit, harvest, any task needed to be done. Currently all they do is make license plates. This will give to the economy and provide income for more housing for them.

When I was still mapping for HL1 I made a fun map with prefabs from that site. They had so many errors that it was annoying. Ive just had bad experince with them.....

Hey I didnt say public transport was a majority. Only in cities. Personal cars are the majority here. SUV's, Hummers, Hummer limos, all the gas guzzlers. I say we remove unused parts of the earth and scrunch everything together to make where you have to go closer. Prefabs are just brushwork. Easy to make and simple to consider good because of its simple form and square construction. Using pre-fabs are for lazy HL1 mappers!

Models are much more complex and can have much more detail. Prefabs are usually made with floating points, invalid solids, etc etc....

Yes it does take some innovation to make prefabs, but they really arnt something to brag about. Most are too expensive to use anyway.

You know, I think all of you have changed my outlook on women. I never thought of the oppression and downlook on women by society. I guess I was wrong. That would be cool if they re-did the HLDM all for source. Source textures resembling the old ones, source models, weapons etc. (New ones, not HL2 weapons, HL1 re-done models for source) It looks like all they did was add some blend textures, 3d skybox, and water. Its nice, but not great.

The theroy of the "evil genius" who in man's early days he invented religion as a way to control man's primitive violent tendencies in an attempt to control and govern the people with "law". In theroy its the perfect plan. YOu dont obey the law, you burn in hell forever. This of course is theroy, but an interesting one at that.

Maybe when a species evolves past physical shape they become one, and thus God. God could be a highly evolved species who learned how to control evolution and earth. Maybe? Probably not, but fun to think about none the less.

kasperg is right about how as graphics increase, the workload also increases.

I remember HL1 textures. So simple. Now textures need to be clear, bumpmapped, effects on them, etc etc. Animation and points of movement on models will have many joints in the bones for the model too. I cant imagine how much work and time will go into this new game.....

I understand what you mean fourthgen, but what you say applies to every country. The smart prevail and control while the larger population of dumb people do the tasks like janitor, going to wars, or garbage man. Every country needs a majority of idiots for the jobs needed to sustain the country. ( I use some terms harshly like idiot, but not everyone would be classified as a total idiot, there are variations) There are the same number of janitors, soldiers, garbage men, etc in your country as there is in ours. Its a gentle balance needed. School and college weed out the ones and seperate the people for their roles in society. Same as any other country.

Africa origin theroy: Is just that, a theroy. Pangea is a theroy, and so is evolution. They hold no truth. I believe we did not come from them, you do. No reason to prove the other wrong, the idea was just to think. Some things are impossible to explain, or figure out. Unfortunatly (or conviently) evolution can never be tested or proven. The alotted time period takes too long to monitor over generations.

I think God created the protoplasmic ooze that had the cells which came to evolve and contiued from apes, to us. After we developed the cognative reasoning and self awareness, we became human. This advanced thinking brought us the sense of shame, and emotion. Cells and protoplasmic ooze dont spontaineously appear. Something started it. I also believe that the bible was a huge wave after wave of metaphors pertaining to the scientific workings and laws of the universe. It was only written that way to appeal to a wide audience all throughout time.

This is my opinion and by belief.

Religion has been with man all throughout time. It might be needed for sanity of the species. It brings humans hope and purpose. Perhaps all of it is a lie, so what? It causes people to help others. Its humans who change and use it to control others. I believe most people would go insane if God was proven non-existant, so I think the sanity of the race depends on its beliefs as a whole.

Only fools and idiots mock others beliefs. Look to the mind and thoughts of someone not their belifs. It does not dictate the nature of their being.
