i am learning new things as i go mapping and the one thing thats caused me probs is the damn scripting thing! i was just testing to see if it would work and i made it so a scientist is hanging off ledge and falls into a black hole and that seemed to work fine. i then tried the thing where the scientist talks so i made a trigger_once, monster sci, and scripted_sequence. the player walks through the trigger and the scientist looks at him and should say sumthing but he just stands there!!

i choose the sound odorfromyou cause it made me laugh i filled in the boxes etc but no luck!!! :| :nuts: :lol:

u can download sum great textures from sites cant remember though which ones ill check and post in a min :P

maybe if i work hard on the prison map i could make more maps and join them up like a kind secret facility! like one of the cells has a secret hole that is breakable or sumthing? :

i guess the textures are kinda badish and really they should take pictures wit digi cam or look on internet 'google' for images that u can save and convert through wally or expert program thing!

idd and i for one cant wait to see the fininshing result by the way is it gonna be a mod for sure or multiplayer maps! wil it have new weapon models and is there gonna be any coding? if a lot of people put their work into it im sure it cold turn out great like sven co-op or the spec!!! ;)

oh and by the way that mod malif damn 4 got what it was called well it is a great mod example and sumday i will ake a mod like that but nobody here ever seems to want to make a mod together and instead individually oh and i luv the horror mods keep them coming. also how do u make a car shape i mean it isnt easy is it to get the perfect car shape. and finally that c++ thing seems quite hard but tell me now how long u been practising for and how long it took u to learn bits of it etc and wer thnx :P ;) :D : :nuts: :cool:

i felt like making my first deathmatch map for 'CS' and decided to make a sort of prison map with cells and bloody walls etc. i got idea when i was away for a week and when i returned i started building the map. one of my ideas was to add rain outside the prison where the ct's start. the only thing is that when i play the map the rain loks ok from a distance but on closer inspection i noticed that the edges of the rain wer tooo bright and i mean bright cause it lit up my whole room all night lol anyway i need to figure out whats causing it and i tried everything. by the way its set at night time and i even deleted light enviroment but the rain seems to still light up the place is there sum way i can reduce the brightness of the rain and not just by adjusting screen or anything else cause i want to fix it so everyone else can see its beauty! if theres no ideas i will submit map to vault k thnx :

ive had a little practice with mapping now and i decided what better way to test my knowledgeby making a mod called 'Half-Life Second Chance' anywhoo i followed the tutorials on how to set up a mod and made my own splash screen. I called it loading.bmp and put it in my gfx/shell folder which is the folder the tutorial said to put it in so i ran my mod through steam as usual and opened half life second chance but it still displayed the splash screen of Gordon. I tried putting the image in different folders and thought that it must be the liblist.gab thing cause it says game
"Half-Life Second Chance"

trainmap "t0a0"
mpentity "info_player_deathmatch"
gamedll "dllshl.dll"
gamedll_linux "dlls/hl_i386.so"

it contains the hl in it so it must be using the half life folders etc and using the original half life splash screen so im kind of stuck i looked through forums hundred times and tuts and read like every forumn topic on the whole site but nada so please kind hearted people (help me) (and this is the longest thread i have ever wrote)
