I want to get 3 PC game names from each member who posts in this thread.
The first game name will be Your 3 favourite words (in any order)
The Second one will be Your 3 Favourite Song Names
And the third will be Your 3 fav things to do

1) Hardcore Mapping Sausages
2) Recovery Over Darkness
3) Snorfle Glare Attack

Then, the next person chooses one of the mentioned games and writes a paragraph about what the game is about

The bad guy with the sniper rifle, the afwul cutscenes and the acting that is.. oh god it makes me want to shoot myself.

The thing that sticks in my mind the most is a cutscene right at the start, she's running her ass off through a corridoor that, ingame you saw was about 10 metres from one door to the other. in the cutscene, she's running for like 5 minutes being pelted at by a horribly rendered helicopter.

and kasperg, thanks for pointing the nodraw thing out.. would the best lag-reducing technique on an unseen displacement surface be just to make the texture scale 10 or something?

From my latest map, dm_islandside V2

So, i have a displacement for the ground and on the unseen faces, i have the nodraw texture. But, as Kasperg pointed out, these faces are rendered. Would the best lag reducing technique for unseen displacement faces be to increase the texture scale to ten or something?

As it is, it's not laggy, but if i was making a bigger map, i'd like to know

the problem i had when i started for source, was i still mapped for HL1. it all seemed very blocky..

pah.

Source as far as i can tell's only limits, are what your PC can handle. The engine itself can handle pretty much anything you throw at it
