Yes this discussion is about how The US set up the constitution to not allow the federal government to become too powerful. Now the federal government is somehow magically able to establish laws that completely muzzle the laws originally created to keep it in check. This so called "free" country is no longer "free". Acorrding to the N.D.A.A Martial law each and every one of us can be abducted and thrown into prison without any explanation.

It doesn't matter where in the world you reside, you should all be scared and you should all be actively investigating this! ! !

It is the second amendment of the constitution that states we shall have the right to bear arms and it shall not be infringed, not for "hunting", not for "self defense" not because "guns are safe" BUT, to weaken the federal government! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

So this discussion is about how our "the US" government is systematically stripping us of our rights and freedoms to secretly gain control over the nation.

It is easy to discuss guns. Why? Because it is all a matter of opinion. Don't be stupid and lazy and discuss whether guns should be allowed or not based on your opinions and observations. Consider why they are available to us and how it is so that we can maintain our freedom and form a militia if we decide to to fight against our government thus keeping it in check. Lets talk about that because I and even you even if you are not from US should be a little less afraid of Americans with guns who are for the most part responsible loving beings than a strong military government seeking totalitarian control.

Rufee, we the people of America have nothing to do with our corrupt government that invades other countries. A lot of us infact believe 911 was a scam to place blame on the middle east so that we could invade for actual benefitial reasons rather than reaction offense.

Don't you say we need this. Our freedom has been stripped from under our feet against our will. The government is allowed to throw all of us in prison for no reason with no explanation. Sounds pretty similar to Hitler's concentration camps if you ask me. I shared this here because I thought a lot of smart people would have a smart conversation but as usual I was wrong. The sense of accomplishment alone will help make up for the rest of your life you've neglected while making the map.

I tried converting some sky textures from hl2 to hl1 but the "ft" image is different "greyer" than the rest of them. So I guess it can't really be done.

The real problem though was that when playtested in hl1 the borders have a thin white edge. Someone else has had the problem on another site but no one answered. He even resaved a halflife sky texture and the borders appeared so I fear it is photoshop? I simply resized the images in photoshop and saved them as 32/24 bit tga.

Is there anything special that must be done with making sky textures to avoid this?

I remember seeing a movie or show when I was younger where scientists were experimenting with humans and hybridizing them with animals. The protagonist had like an elephant trunk face. I remember him leaping into water? That's all I really remember. I could be accidentally merging two movies.

I would really like to remember what movie or show this was, can anyone help?

Btw another creepy old movie that is pretty gruesome but worth watching that I found the name for is "the mangler".

Ninja, change sky to anything else even while working and make ground less flat. And is that texture grass or swamp water? Hard to tell, even if it will change atleast use a place holder that looks nice.

And consider rounder architecture that looks more organic if it's supposed to be constructed by elves.

Way to go Rim! I might not even have time to enter but I do have some pretty inspirational sketches and ideas.

You should probably read and look around a "tiny miniscule" amount before asking questions.

Also sometimes gamebanana holds competitions but I think for multiple games. This is a good competition for only goldsource and source engine games.

I was thinking the same thing Captain. It would be cool to work together with someone, it's crazy the amount of thinking I put into my entries and couldn't imagine the depth I could go in with someone elses brain present.

I'll pm you some ideas and stuff that i've gathered so far just for fun even if we do our own thing.

At the beginning of many of these videos it says don't take them as truth but consider them as possible. One long section is even said to be untrue...

I read up on astral projection and it's basically where you have an out of body experience. It is "projected ;)" to be beautiful and fun but from what i've actually read it can get really creepy!

They act as though it is all fun and great but certain people who have experienced it mention negative entities for example when a girl was trying to exit her body which is the hardest part, three entities were trying to pull her out of her body. And when she returned to her room, an entity was waiting begging for her energy so she cast light into her room and the entity continued begging from outside her window!

At 1:37 there's a cool cartoon that they try to show the so called beauty of astral projection. Watch what it says after it and it's credits about not believing spirit science...

Looks like a lot of work went into this. But you should probably start with a theme and storyline before even beginning.

A lot of it just seemed like re takes on exactly what hl1 did though some stuff was original. The xen part where the asteroid hit the island was cool. I just don't see how this mod is any different than hl1.

It sounds like you have too many entities... Just group any func_walls or other similar entities even if they aren't touching "turn them all into one entity if relatively close."

And get rid of func_lights and replace them with one or use texture lighting.

Just try explaining yourself clearly, you're all over the place.

You can also just upload your map to the problem maps page if you don't feel like explaining everything.

Cool, I guess I better just get the game.

Rimrook what modeling program do you use? I guess I can try maya though I know you have experience making animated models which is what I need.

Perhaps it will be easier to get help if I write out a story line for the game. I had asked a few people for help because there are a few things I want to do that i'm not sure I can like mess with halflife's code to have random glitches and strange things occur. It'd be silly to plan for things that i'm not sure were doable.

I want this mod to be simple like my dream mod but with a little more interaction and some depth of gameplay. Like semi simple puzzles rather than just exploration.

How come? And for now i'd be modeling for goldsource and eventually probably source. I also need 3ds max for rendering because there are tons of nice textures out there that are only compatible with 3ds max as far as I know. Well atleast they don't work with vray for rhino.

Well, I didn't say I found it for around 400, as 3,500 is more than 400 dollars by quite a long shot. Yes, that is why I tacked bullshit onto it. And it's unfortunate because I could really use it.

Maybe I can try to get the student version, not sure if you have to be out of the US but I was able to get a free student version of autocad because I am a student.

I wouldn't call it getting ahead of myself, I was just asking what you guys knew. Yes I guess this can just be a small project for fun. I'll try to make it really fast too so that I can attempt one in source as well, that being I ever get around to it.

I have some free time this week so we can start planning the mod.

I am also about to purchase 3ds max so perhaps I can do some animations for models in it. It would be nice to have some swimming fish, grass that blows in the wind etc.

This type of mod? It's type is defined by what i've done before in goldsource. It's just a simple mod, and I mentioned earlier doing a second one in source.

I guess I could contact valve on the selling subject. I know mods can be purchased through steam but does that necessarily mean valve owns all of the profits to every game sold through steam that use any of their engines as the basis of their mod? Guess it can't hurt to ask. I'm not out to make any money on this, but to be able to make a semi marketable game would be a little more inspiration. I'm pretty sure people use flash animation to make cell phone games for profit all the time.

What the holy shit that's pretty scary. If animated models can do all that then it seems that they are necessary for a trippy mod. I'd love to see them atleast for inspiration, can I dl them somewhere?

You don't think people would pay a dollar for the mod? It's principle more than anything. But are you even allowed to sell a mod?

Sounds wonderful guys! Yes although I am completely busy to the brim with school when I get pockets of time I will work on this, it will be so awesome to have some help on it.

I don't think it matters what we use if we are not selling it but i'd prefer custom content anyways. Feel free to throw out ideas guys! I've never done hard drugs myself so hehe you know feel free to share if you have experience or know someone that does.

Would it be possible to sell a halflife mod? If so let's make it all custom and sell the thing for like a few bucks. Imagine how much better we'd make it.

Skals I will begin formulating what models are needed as should we together, do you know any animation? Perhaps this whole thing can be a learning process. I've jacked around a bit in blender with weight paint and animating but am total noob at it.

The basic just of this game is the same as the dream entry. It's pretty simple, start in a house. Go on an adventure. End up back in the house or something. It's fun to start in a regular boring house because then all the trippy bizarre things stand out as un regular.

Yea, Captain sound is I think one of the most important aspects of any game. I use fl as well, I think we could work on music together and come up with some awesome stuff. It'd be nice to capture the energy felt in modern dubstep with its sporadic and crazy behavior.

We'll talk more when we have more free time but I think the place to start is a basic story line of the mod. It really ties things together.

I think potatis knows a little about programming, lemme see if he could help some.

And Rim is a texture baws, and knows modeling well.

This is a project i've worked on and come back to many times. I want to complete a version of it, "could do more than one and have done parts of it before".

The basic idea is that you eat mushrooms and hallucinate some crazy adventure. It is very similar to my dream competition entry.

I will make this a long term project, maybe around a year and it will be pretty simple but there are a few things it could use.

I think it would be awesome to have custom code for the game that did random things like basically f up the game a little. Random jolts here and there, random props appearing and disappearing. Maybe random jolts of shaking "could do without code". It seems like writing bad code wouldn't be that hard.

I'm also open to any ideas and brainstorming for the mod.

One beg I had done before, the player started out in a locked bedroom and had to find a crowbar. You then broke your window and found a key in a doghouse that unlocked your closet where you find shrooms that you eat. You soon then began tripping out and things began to go ape shit. Your ceiling raised and shelves began floating and you climb/ jump up them to enter a door that takes you to a dark staircase where it is snowing and takes you to the next area. It was pretty bad ass.

One I had done a long time ago did a lot of crazy things. At one point a picture of saitan appeared and his nose extended and a spiral staircase grew out of the ceiling. You jumped onto his nose and into the staircase. I'm sure some other ocol stuff happened.

The mod I want to do will have things happen like returning to your house altered, at one point the house will turn into a giant skull and another point it will become super modern and have awesome architecture.

Anyone interested in helping me with some horrible "almost computer crashing" code? You'll get credit for helping of course.

Models would help as well/ shrooms, crazy shit, house props etc.

I'm just going to do this one in goldsource, but maybe the next one can be in source.

Transferring rain and snow entity from cs condition zero would be epic help.

Sounds awesome man. Don't be jealous of my shield I practically printed it out ;) I'd have spent even more time on my costume if I knew I was having my party. I want to build a hookshot, maybe I can be link more than once, but with upgrades/ new items each year. :)

This sounds crazy but I know how to make real simple bombs. Just get a spent co2 and empty gunpowder out of a shot gun shell. Fill it into shell and stick a fuse from an m60 in it. I could make paper mache ball around it and have real bombs! Eh, sharpened sword is one thing but this is too dangerous even for me...

Ohhhhhhhh, fabricate an hev suit, yes!

And yes i'd never even imagined dressing as Gordon without the crowbar. Maybe dress up a hamster as a snark and carry it? Dude you could make a laser trip mine "box with green laser".

Looks like a few people have made gravity guns. I'd rather have a gauss. Egon might be easy to make. You could get an airsoft gun for many of them.

Yea heck i'd be samus myself. Maybe when I learn the cnc machine and some casting methods at school i'll be able to fabricate a samus suit. ooo, zero suit is hawt.

Actually bought them here. Sounds cool. If I were to dress like something from halflife or something similar no one would know what it was lol. Captain another "easy" idea I had was "death". Just get a black robe and a sythe, skull mask optional. I'd get some platform boots to give it a taller effect.
