Ok, strange things happening.

Why does my hammer want to rename all my maps to Mr?

And why can't i compile because hammer can't find the folder Halflife/vavle/maps/Mr.map? that Mr.map folder has never existed!

And yeah, it tells me to look in Mr.log for the error! There is NO Mr.log!

It has worked fine untill today, and i haven't changed anything, it's out of control!

If god could create an object that he himself cannot lift, then he wouldn't be "all powerfull". But if he couldn't it means he's "all powerfull", you see to be powerfull is to have power over something, power to create everything and everything. But if you are able to create that object that you can't handle, you ain't got the power. Do you understand?

And thanks :) And btw, I don't use steam. As I said many times before (although i don't see why you should remember it) I only play the LAN version of HL and i only play at school with my friends.

But that trick when you func_wall stuff in order so lower the r_speeds, does it really work and can I over do it? I've never made a map this size before you know, and if the rooms with loads of detail ain't connected in such a way that you can see all the rooms (or 2 - 3) from one of them, i don't need to use the hint brushes then? (If the rooms AIN'T connected in such a way)

thanks everyone, you've been to great help :) All the HLDM maps are so small these days, so i thought the r_speeds might be the reason... But i was wrong :)

That gl_wireframe" command never works for me, ah well. I'll just see if it lags when i test it a bit more, it's just two rooms and 2 corridors at the moment, so i can't tell if it lags yet...

Great, im trying to make a lots of detail but still very playable HLDM map, and you all know how good i am at finishing maps ;P But the final version of banko_arena is done, just needs some minor adjusting though... Just needed to know this for my latest project, i might just finish it... I like where it's heading, like i did with banko_arena so it's looking good.

Are you sure that the whole map is rendered at the same time? I've heard people say different, otherwise multyplayer maps would lag all time (the maps that does lag) and not just in some places?

EDIT: And why should the engine render the maps differently because it's multyplayer? Hmm... well maybe it does.

If i put lots of deatail in a room, that wouldn't have any effect on a room in another place in the map (as long as you can't see in to the other room) right?

DarKKKilaues: True words, true words... It's strange, the religious people in this kind of discussions always remain calm, while the anti-religious people type things like VOX just did, or the opening by Loffe.

Then it might be as you say DarKKilauea, religion leads to manners. So maybe it's not that wrong using religon in your way of raising your children, if they learn to behave with manners and get faith in something, that doesn't sound so bad no that i give it a bit mor thought.

in Religion. Post #192379
Loffe: How do you know that there is no afterlife? You don't have any fact-based argument. Neither have I.
-But, religion is based on faith, faith in both good and bad. And it's been proven that if you have faith you can survive a lot more. Ok, maybe not survive, but making it easier for you if you get cancer or something like that. Faith also makes you feel better when bad stuff is happening. And if you belive that there is a good guy up there watching your back it sure makes life a little more easy, am i right?

And what is so wrong with having faith? Does it make you grumpy that some people have hope for something good in death?

But there are many downers with religion aswell, some people use it as a threat to make kids behave or the devil will take them, that's just pure bullshit. And some use it to create war, but we all know that it's not the religion that does it, they blame it on the religion, that god spoke to them so that they will have the people on their side. But the people don't have much of a choice anyhow, do they?

Im a christian, not that kind you see in church. I read the bible and created my own belief, based on my own interpretation of it.

But im not a big fan of religious people, i hate people that live their lives by their belief insted of letting their belief be a part of they way they always lived. People that use religion as politics or moral standing points. It just makes me sick.

And another thing that makes me sick is the people who hate religion only because they don't believ in it. They have no right what so ever to throw shit at religious people.

But one thing i hope we all are against, using religion in child raising and politics?

And if it ever again comes a nice guy that cures people from various diseases, think twice before you nail him to a stick.

thank you.

in Cheap fog for big maps. Post #192278
That idea might work... But i was thinking more on how to make the fog un-laggish...

Well, the layout isn't done yet, but i have the idea of it in mind, one thing would be to chop the map in four pices and put them in different skyboxes and letting teleportets connect them... And but hint brushes inbetween the skyboxes or just put them far away from eachother so that the max viewable distance take's care of that... What do you think of that?

in Cheap fog for big maps. Post #192276
Ok, here is my problem. Im making this huge outdoor map, and because it's so big it would lag, so i figured i could set the maw viewable distance to a smaller number so that the entire map doesn't get renderd all the time, but we all know how ugly a low max viewable distance can be. So i thought that i could use fog to cover it up, but if i use lots of sprites it would lag anyhow?

So do you have any idea of how to make this big map without lag?

Some deatails about the map. It's on water with houses built on pillars. and there is bridgelike path's that connect's the houses so that you don't have to swim. It's kind of a "dark" map, swamp like darkness if you know what i mean.

Muzzleflash, NO! It's toilets! It's the coolest compo so far! I mean, lego, big deal! It's just colourfull and blocky, but a toilet! That's a challange! make that round thing on the bottom of the toilet (the one the shit goes into) round is one hell of a challange! And it's original!

I still remember my old "THE SPACE TOILET" too bad the computer crashed so the rmf was KIA.

But what about this, i get some more time on my toilet(s) and when im done and you like it i get a special "Tosses toilet award" ? :D Let's face it, im a working man so I have little time to map, so i should get something :P

And yeah, more interesting compos! I know im capable of winning, at least getting in the top 3. But that is if the compo is right. Like this time, make a toilet! That is sooo me!

I dislike the player in all skins. once upon a time i downloaded winamp, i wasn't very pleased with it, but i thought "hmm... might be good for movies". So i started a movie, but winamp couldn't handle "dunderklumpen" so it died. And then i downloaded VLC, a gift from god himself. My problems went away. So now i only use stable players. windows media player for music and VLC for movies. But i got to find a better player for music, the windows mediaplayer isn't living up to my standard (oh well, it's microsoft so it can't be great) but it sure is better than winamp.
