Screenie of Gordon toying with his M4 here. Looks similar to yours, Muzzle, but sharper and brighter textures, and that's not just because of the lightin'.

The problem is that Windows doesn't set the current directory to to Steam because its stupidity combined with Steam's stupidity is utterly and stranglingly insanely horrifically dumb.

Solution 1: Don't automatically run the map after compiling.

Solution 2: Don't even think of automatically run the map after compiling.

Solution 3: Kill everyone. You will therefore have no potential audience and no need to map.

Uh, if Radeon9700 is "The fasest card there is", what about radeon 9800?
Well duh, they market the 9800s and 9600s as "the fastest card" so they're obviously all faster than everything else put together. ATi told us so!

Good idea, and, far as I can see, insanely difficult. You'd likely have to entirely recode Hammer in Java or somethin'. Not possible m'afraid.

PALO, the whole point of the origin brush is that it tells HL where to consider the middle of the entity. It doesn't need to be dead-centre.

This is because you are using Software-mode rendering, which can only render up to about 800 wpolies. Switch to OpenGL if you can (almost all graphics cards nowaday are capable of doing so, and most people run in this), if not, make simpler maps or just put up with it.

Shotgun's not too great in m'opinion. M4 looks alright, but not as good as mine (which is also ripped from SoF2; p'raps your graphics card's not s'good as mine).

Exactly. Either that or Multiplayer -> LAN Games -> Create Game -> yourmapname.

MP maps do not need any special entities for suits or weapons.

Fixed your post :)

I'd do it like this:

Four trigger_multiples bordering the hacker-leaving area in a hollow square shape, and a func_button or whatever to act as the hacking control. Have the _multiples targetting a trigger_relay, state off, and the _relay targetting the ambient_generic for the alarm sound (and any other entities for during-the-hack).

Then set the button to target another _relay, trigger state on, and set that up to target everythin' else.

Should work, if not, there're other, similar ways, and you might be able to adjust this method. You might also do well to look at SlayerA's example map, Hold-Open Door.

Your wpoly count will be far worse as all of your map will be drawn the whole time.

The lighting will also be poorer, as RAD will have no visibility data to use.

Compiling takes time. Get a better PC or be patient.

Get Zoner's Half-Life Tools immediately, from the Links page, and set them up in Build Programs replacing the laughable Quake tools you're using.

Your CS is in a very bad position for old programs like HL. Spaces and dots are likely to confuse it; you could easily set a different "place compiled maps here" directory and copy the .BSP manually afterwards.

If the above doesn't work, post your compile log/error message once you've set up ZHLT.

Good... don't overuse things though. The clock was great the first time, but when there were another six they kinda lost their atmosphere. The zombies were a little too un-nightmarish, maybe not monsters next time?

Textures were good and the ladeh made me jump :)
