in Decompiled/Decompiling Half-Life 1 Maps? Post #301465
You can read about decompiling on the valve developer wiki: LINK.

I remember when I tried decompiling maps in the past I used WinBSPC.
Notice that the decompilers will output a .map file, not a rmf. Expect everything to be really messed up( as far as I know, they actually carve from a big block the whole map).

Welcome and have a nice stay in our community!

I have never seen a shotgun acting like the one in Duke Nukem 3D before. The animation of it going up when reloading is quite nice.
Most of other games shotguns are too static, including the half-life ones.

Potions of strength are about as close as it gets.
I'd perceive that as a "as far as it get", though.

[EDIT] Milestone! I've reached a length of 200 blocks with my Bridge to the Unknown. I already used over 1200 blocks. Won't be the longest bridge as somebody's already light-year long uniting several biomes...

Hmm, seems like the image hosting service resized the image even though I haven't selected a resize option. Anyway, my bridge is at the blue line:

I think I'm addicted on a few Nirvana songs. I can't get them out of my head.

I plan on getting a guitar, preferably an electro-acustic as I can't afford an electric one, and I also want one that can be played independent of an amplifier. My budget won't be higher than 130$-150$, so it will probably be something modest. It also means that I will have to struggle to learn alone at home how to play it.
I always wanted to know how to play the guitar, but now I feel an explosive urge in me to get this achievement. And I don't have a guitar. Damn it!

in HL3 Rumour Post #301337
Habboi, I don't think it's about technology here. I doubt they're waiting for the technology that they'll grant them the power to simulate puzzles at an atomic level.
They are probably waiting for the FPS gaming market to die out. Every new sequel to MW or Battlefield and other examples seem more and more superficial(not that I've played them, but at least if that's not true, then it is true that the gaming market is saturated with this genre).
Then they'll make a big hit with their game. Or who knows, perhaps they're hinting at a new engine they're developing.

Also, you gotta love Google Trends. Perhaps Valve is waiting for people to start forgetting about HL and come with the sequel as a surprise. Although I could say the trend indicates that interest began dropping not long ago, it's actually kept a "steady"(ignoring the spikes that might indicate other rumors along the years as well) line since 2008.

Notice the last days. I'm waiting for another week until checking the trend again.

Rumour started from this tweet.

Discuss, possibly including links to other news about this. This shall be either a great disappointment or the best Christmas ever.

Also, even if we're 90% sure HL3 won't be announced because Gabe is difficult, it's our job as HL players and a HL community to speculate.

Lesson learned today:

Never share your tools with somebody( really stupid thing to do, shame on me). Especially Dimbark. He might throw your enchanted diamond pickaxe into lava and then run like hell. And then kill you with an enchanted sword that was enchanted in my room which I let him use it.

I also lost level xp of course, but it doesn't matter now anyway as I lost my gaming appetite. I also have only 2 diamonds left, so no diamond pickaxe for me, and today I mined for 30 minutes on layer 12 without success. My fearing instincts about Dimbark on the server were right.

Thanks Dimbark for being an idiot.

For about 650€-700€, you can make a very good rig for gaming that would include the Sandy Bridge Core i5 2500k and an AMD Radeon HD6850.

That's what "I'm after" right now, without any money( just dreaming about this configuration...). Imo, even if I had the money, it wouldn't worth it since my pc runs pretty well a lot of new games. The new Ivy Bridge will appear next year anyway, using the tri-gate(3D transistors) technology that will bring a big energy efficiency and performance boost.

Like potatis_invalid said, 50C is nothing. 50C for a processor is like 37C for a human body, when it starts reaching over 70C is when you can call it "hot" and when it passses 90C is when you should start worrying. Anyway, they won't be damaged until after 110-120C, but at that temperature the system shuts itself down to prevent damage.

50C is nothing.

not because it's more expensive to produce new ones, it's because they're producing them at a reduced rate or even not producing them at all.

This is plain ridiculous. I understand that because of the floods in Thailand the prices will rise, but why do they make ALREADY PRODUCED hard disks(and especially quite old models) so damn expensive? It's not justified!

For example, I bought this spring my Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB(best HDD for transfer speeds) at nearly 70$. From the same store, this HDD costs 125$ now.

I consider this quite an offense. Why are you adressing to me like that? Do you think of yourself to be superior just because you live in UK?
I also wasn't really referring to haiku being crap. It's easy to write verses when you have nothing to say, to express. This thread is full of meaningless, void haiku.

Is this considered
Modern poetry today?
I'm not good at it.

I want to express
My opinion on this.
It's a load of crap.

Don't throw bricks to me
Just because I don't like this.
Can't find the value.

Let's try something else.
Math would blend in quite better.
I like number pi.

When I think of pi,
There must be something lovely
About the circles.

Spheres are quite nice too
They can't say to a big cube
Simply: I love you.

Cubes envy the spheres
For they are mysterious
Being oblivious.

Length, width and its height
Are properties of the cube.
Simple volume, right?

Constant and the pi
Plus the radius, you see?
Becomes complex now.

Or quite the same thing
Integral of sphere surface.
Math- hard at this pace.

Notice the line there?
A strong pain you couldn't bear?
I haiku-cheated.

We should try finding
A good rhythm and rhyme blending
Feeling poetry.
