My dad's gun is a sig sauer p2022 9mm. I can load a few bullets into it and at night before I walk to my car slip it into my pocket. Than if I need it I can quickly draw it and cock it. Maybe i'll post a video of it. Don't just assume i'd shoot someone for no reason, guns don't fire until you pull the trigger. Now to wait for my paycheck so I can get my license.

I asked my dad last night over dinner if I could use it and he didn't care. But I will get him to keep another gun out of the safe because I would feel bad taking his protection.

You don't really realize the safety of a gun until you mess with it and understand it. Or the deadliness until you shoot it. And 9mm bullets are suprisingly huge! And there's absolutely no way in hellthis thing would cock itself, it takes a lot of force. And it will not fire unless the bullet is in the chamber. So the safest way to handle a gun is with precaution and understanding. In my pistol's case it is somewhat safe to leave the magazine inside of it as long as it isn't cocked.

Another safety measure is to never aim it in anyone's direction. Even if it isn't loaded at all. Its always been good practice that i've done with guns.

Or just someone who doesn't know absolutely anything.

Wow, I just went through the previous page and it was pretty entertaining. I just got back from eating out with my dad so I haden't the chance to read it until now.

Thanks Blitzkrieg for the common sense hehe.

Crollo your right. But like I said, you don't know me. Iv'e played paintball and airsof all my life. I've hunted. Ive boxed. I work out my mind and body everyday. I strive for greatness within myself. I work my ass off for things like my laptop that can help me better myself and become a successful architect. I'm not however who you depict me to be. I'm just a very self motivated young adult that refuses to give up my belongings or my life to some ass face off the street. I will defend my life and my belongings. If you come at me in the dark of the night, your not going to get my best of judgement weather or not a shot from my gun will kill you.

You will become a fly that willingly flew into my web. Its like those idiots that swim where there are sharks. Theyr'e giving the shark the "option" to bite or kill them. Not saying, "oh get a gun it will save me". I'm not a retarded idiot. I'm very logical. Of course the most logical thing to do is leave school in groups and look out for eachother. But the most important thing is to always be aware and ahead of the game. Things happen very unexpectedly and you have to be alert or they will catch you off gaurd. Yes I have God to protect me but I also will do my part.

Gps is a good idea but I don't think it would be very effective in the ghetto. I don't think a police officer would be willing to barge into someone's house for my laptop because I installed a tracking device in it.

Crollo must have watched Kund Fu Panda and thinks with inner peace that you can deflect cannon blasts...

I knew a kid in school that new "karate" and thought he could beat up the strongest kid in school and he was a shrimp. Yea it can help you but muscles also help. There are many aspects that contribute to an outcome. Some of you believe there is only "karate"...

Mind over matter is very important. But matter matters too lol. Well I started this thread to see whatyou guys thought and all I mostly got was very strong opinions. Statistics are nice but they generally point at the big picture and not my specific case. Yet it does bring to mind what I am thinking exactly. That people will own guns no matter what. If there is a law forbidding them, than the criminals will have the upper hand because the law abiding people won't have a gun.

Honestly though it sucks. Guns are rediculously powerful and extremely underrated. They are pure death machines and way too powerful for anyone to really need to carry. But there out there and there out to stay.

Sorry, haden't read this part. Hmm lets see. I am a human body. Been for over twenty two years. Been in a few fights. Used to box. I work out about four days a week and train quite often punching and kicking. I know what hurts and what doesn't. I know generally what places would be a fatal shot and not. Your talking to me as if i'm some retarded alien.

Thanks to all of you. Yall are all making really good points! And yes there are murderers around the campus. My buddy went into a really ghetto fastfood place off old spanish road and everyone mean mugged him when he walked in. Than a cop showed up behind him and said he should probably leave for his own safety anf that he was investigating a homicide.

Seriously before any more is said. America is a very safe place to live. But certain areas especially around downtown are very bad. Go to google maps and view university of houston architecture building. Type in Gerald D Hines architecture houston texas. Its the teal roofed building. Parking is above it and across Elgin. Atleast that's where I park if there's a spot. People get robbed at gunpoint every so often. If you check out the southern side of the university for example in the moody towers, a girl was "quote: sexually harassed from I think 10 pm until 8 am". I think someone climbed into her window or something. And people get held up in all the parking lots.

Its not some huge major epidemic but it happens from time to time. And i've heard they usually go for guys. I thought about it and its probably because they expect the girl to have mace and a guy to be defenseless.

As for not carrying my laptop... Uh I need it for school lol. Well what do yall think? The campus is much bigger than it looks on the map. What do you say I just sprint to my car every night?

So what do you suggest, hand him my laptop and say have a nice night? I understand where your coming from and what your getting at but once again you don't understand. In fact you don't even know me. I'm always extra alert and not a fool. If someone's coming at me I can tell if something is up or not. And just because you draw a weapon doesn't mean you shot it.

Honestly instead of just saying i'm wrong what would you do in my situation?

Ok Archie, so i'm safer without a gun if a gunman asks me for my laptop? Because I would run away if I didn't have a gun. When I carry my gun I will have my hand on it and if I see someone creeping up on me I will draw it first. I'm thinking ahead of the game. And i'm not a complete idiot I will go to the shooting range a lot and have been shootiing all my life.

No offense crollo but I would never try any form of self defense against a gun besides running, submitting, or shooting back. Those are my only options. Don't bring a fist to a gun fight or your begging to be shot.

People think its ok to just hand up your shit. But not when you work your ass off for it. I will defend it and my life. Its not like i'm some crazy gun hoe fool ready to shoot people. I just believe in fairness and safety. I'd rather shoot someone fairly than be shot unfairly.

So what is your suggestion than Archie? When i'm walking to my car at night with my 12 hundred dollar laptop is a criminal going to abide a law that forbids a gun? Yet if I did i'd be screwed. Now i'll have my hand on my revolver and if someone approaches me i'll be ready.

In Texas where I live and a few other states it has been made so that you can carry a pistol concealed onto public campuses if you are twenty one or older and have a concealed fire arms license.

Anyways I had been practicing with throwing knives for selfe defense because university of Houston is right in the middle of ghetto neighborhoods and I walk through the parking lots at night with my laptop to my car. And lots of people get robbed out there and raped. I literally get emails all the time about people that get raped on uh campus for like 8 hours straight. I got the knives thinking that if I could get good with them they would provide decent protection combined with pepper spray and maybe even a tazer.

But now... All I gotta do is get my license and borrow my dad's 9mm until I can afford a pistol or even just use the rest of my student loan and get one. I will be safe in the parking lots now, well safer than before but all day in school I will have a bulky pistol on my side. And the guys usually walk the girls to their cars as well. We stay in class genrally until really late hours because of the intense amounts of work.

Any thoughts on these new laws? Keep in mind that not anyone at school can carry one. You must be twenty one and take a very long expensive course.

It would be really nice if in a forum before typing you could click on people's post and control select them to select multiple people's posts. Than it could hilight them and when you reply it notifies them. Than they could click each notification and it would take them to the forum with your post hilighted one color and there response a new one. Eh?

:glad: ok. Rim your grass is sexy. I hope you don't mind if I use it and I should always ask. You'll get mention in my credits. Really I have like 30 grass textures and this is the best looking one!

Check out my current playlist im listening to while mapping. My Playlist

Another seven hours in and finished "attics, posters, attic window, some music, bedroom props, new wall colors and more". Good stuff...

Edit: Yea gold source just isn't meant for big levels. I may have to re think my mod's layout and make it more linear. It will only be worth making into a full blown game if I make it interesting enough. Time to quit mapping and start only planning for a while.

Ok, not doing it in spirit. Now to decide, either condition zero or half life. Probably condition zero because I can have a vehicle and rain. And intro music. Who doesn't have condition zero?

Like 5th edit: Ok, counterstrike has rain. Didn't think it did. Welp, probably doing it in hl because of the single player aspect and feel. And you can run faster.

in Dreams Post #297077
I write my interesting one's in a dream journal. Strange though, I can't find my favorite one. It seems to have gone missing.

One cool part from a dream i've had: There was a big tree with massive ridges and to the touch it was a light wood like balsa. The tree had a huge hole in the base of it like a little cave and inside was filled with spider webs. Huge fruits the size of basketballs were growing on the tree. I took my shoe off and threw it at one and knocked it out of the tree and caught it and tore off a chunk and ate it. It tasted like a big orange mixed with grape fruit but a little less flavor and was really good.

Yes I have wonderful dreams.

I just recently had my first "lucid" dream. I realized that I was dreaming because I changed something on purpose and than realized I was dreaming so I ran and jumped and began flying in a movie auditorium and than I woke up. It was so awesome to control what I was doing.

And it just isn't working as though it isn't settup correctly.

What says questioning it is a bad thing? Maybe extremists but the average person I know would consider it ok because you are seeking the truth in what you believe.

When I was catholic, we were even given the opportunity to seek what we believe whether it be other religion or none at all. Of course most people lazily decided sure, i'm catholic like I did but some fell out of it at this time or took extra time questioning everything. In this case, questioning our religion was encouraged by the church. It's because until that point everything was sort of chosen by our parents and once you reach the certain age they leave it up to you. I remember I didn't do jack squat. I was just lazy.

I've even seen this sort of thing done with other religions too.

My girlfriend and I got into a religeous discussion. She's mormon and i'm christian. We went over the book of mormon and the bible. I showed her a quote that said you shouldn't "add" any thing to the bible. And in the book of mormon it says that it is "comparable" to the bible "thus not part of the bible but "added on stuff"". And it said you will become closer to God through the book of mormon than any other book. Which of course is saying it is "better than the bible".

The thing is she came at it with the perspective that she already believes in mormon and all the inbetween junk "the mormon scripture" she bends and twists it to make sense.

The way I came at it was saying "I don't believe in God" or atleast I don't even know if I do or not.

I began comparing good vs. bad in accordance with scripture and the ten commandments basically like bad equals stealing and good equals not stealing and than started laying out equations and discovering some interesting stuff.

Comparing Good to "building a model of a house to depict your idea" and bad to "destroying the model because it ruins the model's purpose which was good". I learned that good is hard because it is harder to build the model and bad is easy because it is easier to destroy it. So. Good=hard to aquire/ do. Bad= easy to aquire/do. Or shortly good=hard, bad=easy.

Than in my lack of faith I decided heck i'll just take it easy and let life figure itself out for me and if God is real, i'll let him come to me. But than I realized that the goos is harder to obtain and in accordance to what I think atleast, than God is good so it is harder to aquire him or conceive him so I have to dig deap and try to figure it out which is harder than not doing anything at all which I originally was going to do.

I figured out some more stuff but don't feel like going into it because you would have to believe in God atleast some to understand it with out saying it is foolish. Atleast what i've said seems to make some sense. I also whent deaper into why stealing is bad and not stealing is good and how stealing appears to be good because you aquire something yet you don't see the other partie's loss whish is bad when it was rightfully there's to begin with. So good can look bad and bad can look good when bad can only equal bad and good can only equal good.

Any comments? Don't get pissy its just logics here.

Those who say oh pshh, religion lets not discuss it are simply taking the "easy" path which is "bad". The "harder" path would be to try to discover weather it is right and true or not which is "good".

Wow, maybe I will do it in spirit. And thanks instant for your advice. Now are you talking about shrooms? Anyways I have read some interesting stories or "trips" from them and definitely do plan on adding all kinds of stuff. I'm not actually trying to mimmic their effects but simply create a "hallucinated adventure" and shrooms are simply the interesting gateway to them. Maybe these can be "special" shrooms. Please do tell more though because this will help. I plan on making things "transform" quite a lot.

Also check out my dream mod and let me know what you think.

Captain, i'll post the garage when I get a chance but I don't think it can be done nicely. It took a butload of work just to get it to look wonderful going one direction but the problem is that track_train's have to rotate to go the other direction. Unless!, you are controlling it because you are than able to "reverse" it, so maybe there is a way...

I've finished the house which is the foundation to the mod but now have to decide what game it will be for "condition zero, halflife, or spirit. Is spirit easy to learn?

I don't like to show a lot of work before I post it but wtheck. Its just the house and you guys are being really supportive.

~6 hours later and I got it done and smooth looking. Yea i'll just allow it to open only. I guess it was worth it lol. I'm pretty sure i've seen it done before where it could close too. I'll have to find it.

For some reason the track_trains wouldn't start in the correct direction so I had to make them move through some path_corners under the floor before they met their starting points.

I also used a wall toggle that starts there becuase with out it they look mis alligned.

Well I map with 14.35 units equaling a foot which is to porportion but sometimes looks small. So instead of having 8 foot tall ceilings I have them 11 foot tall making the doors appear shorter.

Here's something more my style. Its a beach house I just finished. Though its a little too orthogonal for my standard taste it is pretty modern and strange.

Archie have you actually done these drugs? Not critisizing you but just curious. While I know shrooms are a hallucinogen i've never actually done them. I've read many shroom tales though and pretty much anything you can imagine falls under shrooms. People feeling like they are huge. Things changing colors. Trees waving at them. Something scary looking in the window at them etc. The list goes on forever.

Edit: sorry, realized this should have gone in maps and mod forum but oh well.

Heres a tiny sneak peek. Yes I like to start with a house so I can come back and mess it up.

And I know the architecture is simple like in my dream mod. The point is to be able to relate to it and for it to seem realistic. This however is not my style of architecture, i'm really a modernist. I still have to finish the kitchen and eating area on this house. And than fill it with goodies and ambience.

There is some interesting reason to its design but only one major point that you will find when playing it. "The house resembles something that something will happen out of it" :tired:

I don't join unofficial competitions. I just did the pool one and it fell through even though I finished mine. Unless you had it much more organized. Its an interesting concept though. It would be interesting to see what everyone mapped with the same song inspiring them.

As for me I usually listen to techno or rock on pandora or some video game edited music on playlist.com. I also sometimes listen to hardcore music like As I lay Dying. With my map flow_control I remember listening to the same bunch of video game and techno songs from playlist.com and it really helped me get it done.

I'm working on a mod that will have different music in it that i've made but the music will be secondary to the area's/ map's feel. I'm making most of it with fruity loops and piano.

Here's a thought. It seems that all "laws" of physics are simply explorations and observations that we make observing our surroundings.

Are they secondary to what already exists? Or is what exists secondary to the laws.

Here's another thought. Christianity sure does ordain some peace and keep things moving smoothly. Just this week I cheated on my girlfriend and kissed another girl. I feel horrible but because I haven't been as religeous I didn't feel as much reason not to do it. I know its not religion alone but morals that tell me it was wrong but when I see it from a "humanist" look I did it because it was more benefitial to me as a man to get another girl. It all sounds silly but the point is I probably wouldn't have done it if I was still a strong christian. So religion does a pretty good job keeping people out of trouble.

I also probably did it because of the numerous girls that have been recently unfaithful to me. And another guy that was with us just wanted to hook up with her and have nothing else to do with her so I wanted to intervene in a way even though I have a girlfriend.

Archie, I want to respond to your huge post on the last page talking to christians.

You'r right. People should think for themselves and follow what they believe as reasonable and correct and question everything. I've been religeous all my life but never realized this until now.

Now I look back to all those people in church, standing there looking proud and like they know all and that they will be saved and live forever and everything. Its really annoying to think about. Not that there's anything wrong with them being moraly correct but when they act all knowing it becomes annoying.

I was brought up cathol;ic and now I don't agree with most any of it. You should not have to confess your sins to another sinning priest. Only to God in my opinion anyways or whatever you believe. The truth about belief is that there is no proof so no one can correct you but only let you know what they believe and hopefully listen to what you believe and consider it.

I just started dating a morman and being open minded I checked into her religion. I don't agree with much any of it and they seem like they think they are better than others because of their "more rules". I see part of my past in herself and how foolish it looks.

I'm on a questfor what I believe and I currently don't believe anything. I'm just being honest. Yes I could tell you that I believe in God but truly I am not 100 % sure I do so I can say I don't in anything. Until I delve into it a lot and though I still ust be open minded to other's beliefs.

Gah Boomer I feel for ya. Well Lucifer may have given us the ability to see right from wrong but I wouldn't follow him, i'm pretty sure he'd just use you for his own benefit and than throw you out like waste or make you serve him.

But thats just what I think.

Here's a thing to think about. When you've died and 100 years passed. Imagine if you could see whats going on in the world. And imagine what you would give to go back to your time so that you could affect the new age. Well here's your chance right now!

Here's a thought. Time cannot be changed. It is a perfect constant thing always moving in the same direction. All that happens is within it and nothing can happen without it. Time is perfect.

Isn't it said that God is perfect? Therefor could God be time? Time is what allows us to exist and we are told he created us. Did time create us?

Just by being asleep doesn't mean you are actually skipping it, just not living it yet existing. I'm pretty sure going backwards will always be impossible.

Oh yes, good old time travel. What a great topic, any takes on it? And as for the cyborg stuff, seems cool but Possibly immoral, well more strange than anyhting I guess. It would be pretty awesome though!

I think by the time we reach that, if religion is true, God will come clean up shop.

Science and religion talk bore me. I see deep thinking differently than many I guess...

Deep thinking is an " UN BYASSED" and un "CORRECTABLE" thing. Its just "ideas!" Quit using logic and crappy ideas to prove people wrong.

No one knows how anything actually came to be so don't assume you do. You can only "assume" that it is a possible option!

Well sometime's they have to make assumptions and than try to prove them right or wrong. For exaple, I was watching something on animal planet about a guy who claimed tyrannosaurus rex's hunted in packs because many of their skeletons were found close together. They didn't see them hunt in packs but had to assume this idea and than try to prove it correct. I guess you've somewhat implied that, its just common sense.

Assuming totaly random stuff with no context I guess is what your getting at is kind of silly... And that makes sense.

Archie, the weird thing about religion that i've noticed is that it includes faith wich in my opinion is believing in something without proof.

It becomes normal on this earth to question these beliefs because humans need proof to believe something true. It just makes common sense. Its the sad truth. I am religeous in that I believe in God but thats really it right now. I'm seeking what all I actually believe with it. There's so many different beliefs out there that its like, which ones are correct?

Atleast that in my quest I have become a little less judgemental and can see where your coming from and not judge you. I'm sure its annoying to get judged for stuff you don't judge others for.
