that would create a laster linked to something moving. I want it to look like a straight beam moving along the corridor. Cheers though.

in Moving func_lasers....or not Post #53433
It isn't possible to move func_lasers is it? I mean the source of the laser itself. I wanted to have horizontal laser beams from follow behind you down a corridor as you walked along it. I thought I'd have figured out some way round this but...no. (like the corridor in that resident evil movie)

If anyone knows of a way to produce the effect of laserbeams moving like this other than having a relay of a load of lasers along the corridor (it looked naff when I tried it) please suggest them.

Otherwise I'll just have to have the lasers only activate when you reach the end of the corridor at the last func_corner. sigh

in Question aboot the glass contest Post #53431
By "glass" in the map, I take it that means "looks like glass" as opposed to func_breakable doesnt it? I'm using func_illusionary and no clips so I can pass "lasers" through my "glass", and env_shooters with glass gibs in other parts.

in Steam Hating Planet... Post #53429
Is there any purpose to having steam hating thread #100062?

Steam sucks, one thread of anguish is enough. Maybe the odd bit of random abuse in other ones too (jk).
Making new threads about the same thing before the other threads even die only serves to break up the momentum of a debate and generally clog up the place.

And no, I still hate steam...in fact I believe steam started these threads (even the one that I made).

Chow: Shhhhhh!

in Anonymous Posts Post #53130
If you could just STAMP every anon post that is asking a question answerable in the tutorials, then close it, that would solve the problems. But again, this might seem a little to harsh on total noobs. Maybe if there was an unwritten rule where the first person to reply to an easy question links it to the correct place and everyone else leaves it. Then only after the problem has been overcome by the noob (or there is no reply after a few days, indicating success/disinterest in responses in most cases) the thread is deleted. That way its polite, helpful and doesnt clog up the forums.

Or something. :P

when i was about ten, my hamster died. As you know, hamsters kick sawdust and soforth out of the cage. I woke up to find my hamster dead. There were paw marks either side of the cage, scraping down to the floor. The pathogists report said my dog scared the shit out of it and it died of a heart attack. Now, in hindsight, I blame steam too...

in Huge things and gravity Post #52278
You're on a balcony over looking a large room with a gargantua in it. When you shoot out a window in the skylight above it, it switches to a cam of an osprey transporting a large crate over head. With a ridiculously lucky shot, you shoot the crate free and it comes crashing down from the sky, through the skylight, crushing the garg like a fly and smashing through the glass floor. Simple eh?

While times have progressed and I admit that steam-hating is the death rattle of the dying breed, I'm pretty sure that steam could have done a better job than WON for online play if it wasnt for all the unnecessary crap and sales pitches it makes. Newer nearly always = better, but a program should do as you tell it, not do what it likes to you! I hate steam. When I get a better puter, and a better connection I'll still hate steam for the same reason I hate Internet Explorer, spyware, adware and all other types of aggresive/invasive ware.

VALVE: Make a steam lite with the online gaming goodness - the 'useful' tat and ill glady give it a shot, or even buy it ffs!

what do you mean a 'virus killer'. If retards would stop making programs that do EVERYTHING for you, like IEs 'open file first, ask questions later' approach, your computer would be safe from viruses. You'll notice that the most stable and secure programs are the smallest and frill free ones (like the lovely mozilla firefox). Viruses only happen because invasive programs take over everything an leave very little up to you. Like..........STTTTEEEEEAAAAAAAM (though i doubt you got viruses from it)
