Neat. A button to choose which monitor (or both) to record would be good. At the moment it'll only record my primary monitor.

I completely agree that there is such thing as pure art without too much purpose, I mean we're still human
There is no such thing as art.
You're bipolar for realsies.
And apologise to Captain Terror. Seriously. You had no fucking right to speak to him like that. He made a mature and reasonable post and your response was completely uncalled for.

It's not even remotely about being right or wrong. All that you've shown is that you don't understand the very basic concept of fantasy, and that not everything has to have a purpose - especially in the gaming world. Hyper-reality is far more interesting visually than making everything bland and functional.

In the most literal sense of the word - you are ignorant.

I was really impressed by a lot of Metro 2033. Got it on the sale as well.

Visually it's very, very nice at times but I totally agree about the immersion-breaking loading screens and "time passes..." copout.
Combat leaves quite a lot to be desired as well, but the atmosphere of the world is palpable.

In other news: F1 2011 is the best motor racing game I've ever played. Period. And I've played a lot of racing games.

Yeah, I think you mean "Third-party" when you say "in-house".

Looks fun indeed, although it somewhat lacks custom content for a mod. More like a map pack.

Casting call for a male Australian with a reasonably mature voice.
Non-Aussies who can do a convincing enough accent would also be fine. Regional accent doesn't matter, as long as it's recognisably Australian.

Fairly urgently required for a small voice-role in a short film.

holding my 'history' against me now is like those dumbfuck Americans that don't want to send help to Japan because of Pearl Harbor.
That's retarded because none of the people responsible for Pearl Harbor are still alive (Except, arguably Michael Bay). Blaming people who weren't even born at the time of Pearl Harbor is ridiculous, especially when Hiroshima and Nagasaki were more than retribution enough.

You're still the same person, and whether you've grown up and changed or not is not the question because you alienated so many people back then. I think until two of your cities are nuked, people will have a lower opinion of you than others.

Regarding people hating on your posts being purely because of that? No.
That stuff you were posting in Instant Mix's journal for example was seriously insensitive and that's why people called you out on it - not because of your history.

Rather than blaming the community & your history for the way they treat you, maybe you should read over your posts more carefully before you post them and consider what sort of tone they have. Seriously so many of your posts just make you sound like such an asshole it's unreal. I quite happily call you a dickhead, but only when you're being a dickhead. I don't do it because of your history.

Looks incredibly dated graphically. Source has come a long way from the visuals they're showing in the official trailer.

Gameplay looks a bit too frantic as well. I shouldn't really judge it without playing it, but it doesn't look great.

Johnny English.

I can't wait to see the sequel, which is coming out soon. It's funny that they're making a sequel, because its a really OLD movie.
The perspective of someone so young makes me feel a lot older than I am.
I remember seeing the original in the cinema with some mates.
If you class 2003 as "really OLD" I'd be very interested to hear how you define films as old as Some Like It Hot - one of my absolute favourites.

I started writing a fairly long paragraph about why you're wrong, but you know what? I Can't be arsed explaining it anymore. How the fuck can this be made clearer?

This competition is about using a limited selection of TEXTURES creatively. Source having more models, skies and sounds than Goldsource is a non-issue because that is not what is being judged.

Hippos have nothing to do with marmalade. As such, allowing a hippo into a marmalade competition would be a bit silly, wouldn't it?
They might, for example, distract people from the marmalade.

This competition is about using marmalade creatively, and that's all.

are there any more wads. which are classified as tool textures?
Any texture which does not affect the visuals of a map is a tool texture. Examples of these are AAATrigger, Skip, Hint, Null, Origin etc. ZHLT.wad has all the ones you'll need.
But I would like a clear confirmation.
Decals are not allowed.
Who exactly is the admin of this contest?
These guys.
Are custom sounds allowed?
Why would you want to waste your time on custom sounds if they're not even going to be judged? This is a texture pack competition.
can we basically map for every gold source game or every source game that's officially created by valve?
Yep.

My two cents: decals and overlays shouldn't be allowed. I originally thought the exact opposite, but I think that with the entire point of this competition being creating something unique with a limited palette, allowing decals would somewhat undermine that.

Lights for Goldsource, I'm not too sure about, though. Source mappers have the advantage of a very wide selection of light props, whereas Goldsourcers have to stick with those two included textures. Not sure how fair that is (or are the two engines being judged separately again?)

in Does Map of the Month still exist? Post #299414
Me and Urby were talking about it recently, and we'd certainly like to flex our reviewing muscles again. I think the problem with it last time was that after a couple of deadlines were missed by a couple of people, the whole thing started to get an ever increasing backlog which eventually became unmanageable.

I think there might even be some reviews on my old thepkhunter youtube channel which were finished but were never published on TWHL because some of the other reviewers didn't make the deadline.

tl;dr: I'm still here if you'll have me.

the two carbon fibre materials (c31_metal2a, c31_metal2b) use a surfaceprop which only works in HL2 & episodes, not CSS or L4D or anything, so if you're mapping for them, change the vmt so that
"$surfaceprop" "combine_metal"
reads
"$surfaceprop" "metal"

my bad

I presume that "no custom models" means that if you have to move them from one folder to another, you're breaking the rules.
Strider said that the map won't be judged on models anyway, so there's very little point in using custom ones.

The judges all have fairly good PCs, I really don't see why you'd sacrifice so much texture quality (and lighting quality, because textures scaled to 0.50 have more defined lightmaps) for a barely noticeable w_poly saving.
