Like the Now Playing thread, but for games!

To kick it off, just finished BioShock 2, nearly though Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, stuck in Call of Duty 1, and fooling around in Poker Night at the Inventory and A Reckless Disregard for Gravity.

Oh geeze, where do I begin...

Just finished Jurassic Park Trespasser. Replaying Mass Effect 2. Just started No One Lives Forever 2. Planning on playing Brutal Legend and the latest Sam & Max episode by Christmas. And many, many more games on Steam and old consoles.

Ant: you forgot Far Cry 2. ;)

GTA4: Episodes from liberty city.

Played the lost and damned so far and it's pretty good. I just wish my PC was up to the task of running it for more than 30 minutes before locking up.

Also, Minecraft.

It's not a fixed-width font, so that's out of the question (unless it was limited to only 12 characters, which is stupidly short).

I just started yet another playthrough of Fallout: New Vegas. I'd like to be playing my latest game, but it hasn't downloaded fully yet due to restrictions on bandwidth usage.

I have to wait until after Christmas before I can afford to replace my graphics card cooling system. Until then I'm stuck on a laptop.

I was the same a couple of months ago. Terrifying game, quit a few times when it was just too much. :P

Conviction is actually really good. Sam's decent into, well, madness is totally believable and very well played.
The big plot twist is a bit rubbish - definitely not Tom Clancy quality, but the game itself is top notch.

Runes of Magic. I'm just installing it. I thought of playing an MMORPG(never played one, just an MMORTS I'm addicted to, League of Legends) with a friends of mine. And read about lots of free MMORPGs there and I had to make some choices.
Initially I wanted "Perfect World", but the games is quite dated. The only special thing about it is the in-depth character customization.
Then I said I'll install Vindictus(which is on source engine). Unfortunately, after I installed it I discovered I can't play it yet because all Europe IPs are banned. From what I know it should be available starting this month sometime. It is the best-looking free MMORPG(and the single one to have physics) I've seen yet, so I will definitely install it when it will be available to play.
So my only real option is Runes of Magic, which is basically a wow clone(with lots of additions). But it has a truckload of content and best of all, there are no monthly fees.
Heh, just want to occupy my time with something in the holidays, lazy style :D.

Since I got into a gaming fever, I'll try more of them. I also installed NFS World just to see how it is. I'll probably progress a bit, out of curiosity, not that it is enjoying. I can already say it's not my genre.
The shitty graphics... and controls are disgusting, add to that the fact that you have to pay with real money for some bonuses and also that it gets really boring, since all you do is racing. Boring style. Ok, let's be honest, graphics are how they are because MMOs are intended to be played by a large mass of players, and not everyone has good graphics cards. I only have one complaint here though: since when NOS comes out from the rear lights?
But what about control? Yes, it's an MMO, but still, MMOs have to be addictive. It's only spiced up with very few power-ups and some "skills". I mean, put a 2 year old child in a race and it will probably be at least 3rd place if he\she is not retarded. Heck, I don't even know why they included accelerate and braking keys! The best lack of lazyness proof is the absence of cockpit view, of course.

since when NOS comes out from the rear lights?
They have done this in every single NFS that has nitrous, and you Just noticed this now?

And the reason for the bake lights trailing is it's meant to emphasize speed.
Crollo CrolloTrollo

emphasize speed.
The only thing they emphasize is the beam of light.

Chaos Theory was really good. Everything that followed it was pretty lame imo. I still play Chaos Theory, but I haven't even bothered finishing either one of its predecessors. I admit I never played Double Agent on PC, only on 360, but I'm guessing it wasn't any better.

I'm currently not playing anything. I've run out of good games, and I', desperate to get a new one. I've played through Fallout NV 3 times, all three playthroughs were awesome, but now I'm tired of it. O thought I'd be spending quality time with CoD BO, but turns out that was shit, and I returned it, so here I am with no games and too much sparetime. Should I get a job?

Borderlands

enjoying it so far. yet ANOTHER game though that I can tell it was designed with the consoles in mind, and it holds itself back. No anti aliasing to speak of AT ALL, gimped graphics options as a whole. No dedicated servers either. great otherwise.

At least it's not as bad as Mass Effect 2 with its four checkboxes and resolution bar. sucks only a few great games come out a year and most are gimped for the boxes.
Posted 13 years ago2010-12-26 19:56:33 UTC Post #288238
Yah, voice acting is terrible in Just Cause 2. At least it wasn't the monotone of Far Cry 2.

Shit, I still don't know why it was so highly acclaimed. It was just average to me.

Mass Effect 2 was very consolified, but it still shines as an absolutely stupendously good game.

Conveniently a lot of modern cards are coming out which let you force Anti-Aliasing. I was playing AOE2 with 16x AA earlier :D

Borderlands was ok, but it turned into every RPG after a while: a very boring grind. The story was poorly told and there was virtually no characterisation. Vehicles sucked too.

I'm now working my way through Super Meat Boy, Call of Duty: United Offensive (I finished the first Call of Duty: this expansion pack is every bit as irritating as the first game), Star Wars: Dark Forces, the first of the awesome Jedi Knight series and the first episode of TellTale's Back to the Future game (which really is massive fan service: any and all Back to the Future fans really need to check it out).

Roughly recently, I've been playing Assassin's Creed, Monster Hunter Tri, Chrono Trigger and Pokemon HeartGold.
Also X-COM, Jagged Alliance 2, Lands of Lore 2, Dungeon Crawl and Minecraft on the side.

I just started DJ Hero 2 yesterday.
It's fun as hell. Most of the mixes work out really, really well, even if there's some tracks that I just can't stand (they included Soulja Boy...) but that's always the case in games like this. The general selection is also more mainstream than I would have liked, but hey.
The Prodigy's "Firestarter" remix is just awful, though.

Be prepared for a fun, 15GB download, just for the first game, let alone the episodes.

I'm downloading it at the moment: I thought it utterly sucked from the brief stint I had with it on the Xbox, but I figure I should try it properly.
