in Forgotten RTS Post #290954
I am aware that RTS is a rather out of place subject on these forums, but I'm trying my luck with some of the members I know they enjoy this genre.

I am struggling to remember an RTS that I've played over 7 years ago. A friend of mine used to have a CD that I borrowed with this RTS, and it was just wonderful. Unfortunately that CD got destroyed before I could archive the game on my computer.

I think it's a pre-2000 RTS, judging after the 2D graphics. Problem is... I really forgot even how it looks, anything that I try to remember is replaced with KKND2 images.

The game has quite "modern 2D" graphics, I'd say better than the KKND2 ones, comparable to the starcraft ones I think( but I might be wrong, having only "ghost" images left of it).
I've googled, I checked this site, even checked a wikipedia chronological list of RTS games and couldn't find it!

It is possible that it just plain doesn't exist on the internet, or is so "rare" that nobody mentions it. Just like another RTS game that I have problems replaying, 7 years war(inspired by some korean war in the 15-16 century). 7 years war doesn't work anymore on windows 7.

This game I am looking after has a bit of a C&C:Red Alert and KKND2 gaming style. I think there are a lot of factions, lots of colors and some basic resource gathering (like probably 1 ore 2 type of resources). It's either a "sci-fi" or a "near-future" type of RTS.

So, I am excluding these out of your suggestions:

Dune 2, Dune 2000, KKND2, Starcraft(duh), C&C games, Total Annihilation.
[EDIT] Another clue: I think the first letter of the title belongs to the last letter of the alphabet. Something like "t" or "s". I am saying this because I remember I had to scroll down a few files on that CD. This could be just my imagination though.

I really appreciate any suggestion, even if not correct. I so miss playing that game :|.

That's really not a very reliable criteria for deciding whether a power supply is any good or not... there are plenty of power supplies housed in gray casings that are perfectly decent.
I know. But summarize a better criteria if this is not a good summary :P.

Anyway, I checked my old PSU( a grey one) with the multimeter and the voltage varies with even 0.15-0.20 V. The "branded" almost doesn't vary at all.

Look, it's simple with these power supplies:

If it's a generic grey power supply, change it. Or don't. You'll regret later.
But if it has a known brand on it(generally doesn't have the generic grey look), don't. Even if it's 450w, it is not necessary. It will cope with your system.

There's no reason to ignore Ati. Seriously, most of the big problems are over with them.
I'd recommend buying an Ati Radeon H5750. The power supply is fine, even with such a video card your pc won't exceed more than 250-300W probably(full thrust). I think it's not above 100 pounds there( in my country it's 96 I think).

But if you want Nvidia, somebody else will answer you :).

About those BSODs, have you updated your drivers regularly?

Crollo is a massive troll. I mean, just look at his avatar and then at this thread...

Also, excuse me but the restaurant doesn't have to continously pay for every meal. It pays once. The rest of the meals are pure copy-pastes.

I believe the perfect solution to stop fighting is to agree that there is a mid-point, a balance between antipiracy maniacs and piracy maniacs. The point where you acnowledge that piracy is indeed a bad thing, and want to buy those games to support the producers. But then you also can't do this all the time, and seriously, just "testing" a game is not a crime imo.
I haven't tried a new game since autumn, especially because I keep telling myself that piracy is not good. I even use a lot of open-source programs if I can't afford commercial ones.

hat's like going to a resturaunt, eating a meal, and then refusing to pay because it's not as nice as you expected it to be. Bollocks.
But don't forget, that particular restaurant has infinite meals.
Gaming is a hobby, it's not a necessity. If you can't afford it, tough shit. You'll live.
Playing is a necessity of a human being. Video games are not a necessity, but neither they are a hobby to most of us.
A hobby means that you have to be addicted to a particular activity, spending lots of time with it. I sincerely don't see a lot of us wasting an important time of their life on games.

It's also nice to observe that all these informations come from people with money. Not necessarily Urby, but he has his own salary too.

I am sorry but it is the way I proceeded with the games I have.

For example, GTA4. I played it for "free" and I saw it's worth buying so I bought it when it was at a low price(9$, steam sale ftw).

A contrary example is HL:Opposing Force. I never played it before buying it and now I regret it. I didn't like it, it was boring for me. Probably I bought the game too late. 10 years late...

I don't know about GPU, but I know modern CPU auto-declock or shutdown themselves to preveant overheating.
In any case, 130 degrees is very bad and you should consider putting a better cooler on the video card to prevent it from frying.

Also, I hope you understand that I was referring to Celsius degrees.

No, but it could be better. Silicon parts resist to up to 120 degrees, at which point any modern CPU will auto shutdown to prevent temperature damage.
