The only use i see for 7.1 is for home theaters. D:

The only time I'd consider going to a LAN is if i get a decent computer thats not too big to lug around.

A shuttle would be cool to get in college. Take it to friend's rooms, etc.

I agree with listening to music to use headphones, as most songs just dont need 5.1 sorround.

However, when playing games, surround is the way to go. If its loud enough, you'll be able to hear someone coming BEHIND you, in real life. With headphones, its not always possible, as the sound will just come from both speakers.

Theres an extent to surround, though. Like 7.1 surround is so unneeded its not even funny. 6.1 is the highest i'd go for computer speakers, and thats with just a rear center, i think.

Hell no they don't. They're very well made.

My friend put his through a washing machine and a dryer, and after a little drying out, it worked perfectly.

Try that with any mp3 player.

@Tetsuo: I got the same speakers, too. These 5.1 speakers kick ass. And when i got mine for 55, and free shipping, it was a bargain.

Just put the sub on the floor by your feet. And im damned sure your not getting the most out of your sorround with your left and right front speakers right next to eachother. And whered the center speaker go off to?

EDIT:

This is how this system is supposed to be used:
(NOT 56k FRIENDLY, so dont bitch.)

Subwoofer is on the floor, front and center in place, and the 2 rear are, I'd say about 5 feet behind me.

Dont ask about various room decorations, arent mine. Like the sunflower mouse pad, isn't it awesome though? ;D

I think its some phychological experiment used to see how people react, in this case, to certain sounds, pictures, and very limited information.

Same thing happened with eon8. No one knew what the hell the clock was counting down to, just that it was.
