If anyone has seen AKIRA they would know where Tetsuo comes from.
But it's SO much more than that.
In high-school my clique of friends were all into the Japanese culture, naturally we all had chosen Janaese Aliases. In seeing and loving the movie Akira, i chose Tetsuo as my first name and Sho as my last name.
Sho is roughly translated to "child of light", but i never got a meaning for Tetsuo. Still it stuck. so i go by Tetsuo on most sites, and if it's taken, I'll go by Tetsuo Sho.

I still love the Japanese culture, well the older Japanese culture... not so much ninjas and samauri's but just the whole... Honor and Respect thing. It's great.

@ blitz - Does CSS have prop_*****_overrides ?
i know Ep2 has the prop_dynamic_override which takes a static or physics and turns it into a dynamic...
not sure about CS:S it's been a while.

Quail, i believe if you have the exact same entity setup, you can save it in a separate map name, and just call an instance of it in your main map...
I'm going to have to research further on the subject, but it might let you bypass the max entity problem.

From what i understand so far:

Make a complex entity setup, save it in its own map.
in your main map, call that map with a func_instance.
I'm pretty sure each instance holds the same entity names but acts independant to each other..... so with some clever trickery this might be possible.. after i finish up this here lab report i'm writing i'll see if i can get something similar working and throw up an example map.
  • i cant figure it out yet, but i'll let u know when i do.

If you parent it to the player, it moves AND rotates with him.. so idk if you need the full 360 deg coverage- you could at least cut it down by half.

Ok people here's the deal:

1) i have changed the mod structure based on atom's suggestions
2) i have included all necessary wads, except for those that have been asked to be wadincluded
3) the download link no longer goes to a direct download, but to an HTML page i scrapped together that allows for you to choose which download you want - Steam Mod format - or - structured folder format for WON
4) I have made other changes to the mod mapping wise, hopefully getting rid of the bugs mentioned before.

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. - Everything should be up and running VERY soon.

long story short, it would have taken too long to optimize and I couldn't delay CD any further.
I did like that map, but everyone who submitted maps gave me more than what i put in the level.
Atom got lucky because all his were working already.

That outdoor level, the dam, was a complete mess.
Understandably disposed of, but maybe if we do another one of these i can take some real time and fix it up.
uploaded missing texture btw

Download Link : CLICKY!

The mod is currently being uploaded to it's rightful place on the internet.
I will post the mod in both this thread and the map vault.

Please pick this apart to find any errors!
I've played through it enough times to hopefully weed them all out, but as the dev, i'm bound to miss a couple.

I fixed it - Thankfully.
I clipped a func_water in half.
I dont think the engine likes multiple brushes being a part of the same water entity.

At least when i made them separate the map runs, so i think that's it.

Appreciate the input :)

in loading -stuck on parsing game info Post #285411
Im THIS close to wrapping up castle disposed... but when i go to load the 'castle' map, it gets stuck at like 80% parsing game info.. and hl just stops working..

it's not using any resources either idk why this is happening.
I thought it was because it was a large open area, so i cut it down by half and that had no effect..

I can load other maps too... just not this one.. Compile log shows one warning.. .a larger than expected texture, but other maps that run fine have that same error.

any ideas?

OK
I'm shooting for a Friday evening (eastern time) release at the LATEST.
What's left:

1-Implement Srry's maps,
2-Recompile one of Atoms done
3-Do finishing touches and lighting tweaks on Main castle
4-Make mod structure
5-Test Entire mod.

so even if it's terrible, so long as it compiles and runs somewhat smoothly, i'll add it.

yeah how often do you need more than one arch or cylinder at a time?? and I only create new brushes only if cloning and resizing seem too daunting a task. so it's often minutes after that special brush is created that I go back to the brush tool. =] hammer 5.1 settings pls lol

:) I spent about 5-10 min in each map trying to optimize. Func walling and placing hints and ect... probably saved me days worth of compiling:) I can say I did enjoy playing thru the maps! and the wad is wadincluded as you wished. I'm awaiting feedback from a few other people.... members that sent maps that I forgot about(whoops)
and until then, what's the best way to create a

Castle Disposed is nearing completion!

I got a new way of managing the multiple level changes.
It's very smooth now :)
@ Captain Terror:
YES!
It's just a fantastic view on what could possibly happen to our life if a program takes over the economy.
It takes ideas from MMO's but it's not like.. orientated towards the MMO players.
--------UPDATE----------
Atom's maps are proving difficult to work with, but it's only due to lack of optimization.
One map took me around 6 hours to compile... Func walling all the cylinders and putting a few hint brushes here and there, took that down to 1 minute 45 seconds.
Probably plays better too.
I really overlooked that in every map when i compiled the first time, but i cant let bad optimized maps thru =].
PLus some textures seem to be missing in game vs in hammer, even though i WAD included.
I'm working on that one too.

So after deadeye (TMA's Maps) i need to include skals' maps and i should be good to go (mapping wise)

About that......

The Natural Selection 2 dev team (Unknown Worlds) Made a SDK program for mapping / coding / anything for NS2.. That's their SDK program.. the launchpad.. and that's their icon.
Not sure if it's Kosher to share that.

Yeah its a watermelon with a 1" thick outer rine.. knowing how fast that thing is going, and how much mass it's carrying... that's a lot of force to be stopped just by her nose.
Granted when i watched that video she had to continue, and only seemed dazed/pissed off that 1) she got nailed with a melon going mach 3 [not really], and 2) she had to continue and try to hit the suit of armor.
So she wasn't seriously injured.

I give this one +1 for funny internets.
