well, I always like your critisism, it is very helpful. as for the idea well, I didn't say it was AWSOME! i said it was a learning experience. but you are very right in what you say, perhaps I should spend some time thinking out the idea and making it unique in some way to make people actually give it the time of day.

also, the point is not to have the greatest mod ever and be ruler of the
HL mod world and all cower in your amazingly amazing awsomeness, its to learn. Besides, I like constructive critisism but c'mon, theres got to be a few ignorant noobs out there, like me, that may want to do something like this. Perhaps i'm not a good enough mapper to be at TWHL (thats why I dont post my maps in the vault) but in sure theres other people out there who would like to join a noob team and learn about sequences and what makes a good mod. And this is a note to anyone else who posts here: If you hate the idea, tell me why, I don't want to hear that it sucks and not know why, but if you like the idea tell me why as well. SOOOO G_KID, why is it a bad idea?

just an idea, but it is a map pack for Opposing Force. You are a millitary person assigned with killing gordon freeman, but you are not adrian sheperd. you are on a different team that is in a different sector of black mesa. you are a reconissance unit with a team of elite fighters to learn skills for millitary operations, but you bit off more than you can chew...
i cant do this myself, id be neat if we could assemble a team of mappers and texturers; 3 to four people, and I can provide webspace to get the mod online. add on to the idea so I can develop it enough to assemble a small mod team.

No, but I've noticed that both my FCE editor and milkshape can export to a 3D Studio file, could I export my fce to a 3ds file, then open it in ms3d and export it as a smd? And Is 3d studio freeware, are there trial copies, or do you have to buy it?

just wanted to say that this site should have GIF support for map screenies and avatars. The advantage of having GIF support is that you can have animated avatars and show multiple shots of a map without losing detail (its kinda hard cramming 3 shots into one pic, and you cant see detail of the pic)

to edit the model, go to tools>half life>decompile HL mdl
and choose your mdl file you want to work with, then import xxx.smd (xxx being the name of the mdl you decompiled) then go to select in the menu on the right hand side of the screen, click on vertex (right under where you clicked on select) and make a box over the vertecies you want to move, then click on move in the same menu where you clicked on select, THEN move the verticies to your hearts content

I am working on a map and all was going fine until I added a sewer system to it. Now every entity I add flashes. Whether it be a suit, water, a door, a breakable, it all flashes. It is still solid; you can walk across it, but flashlight light passes through it. I am using d3d rendering. BTW, where is a website where I can download OGL drivers for an ATI RADEON 9600 SE for XP. Googled it and cant find it...

I have a high power ATI RADEON 9600 and high quality P4 processor, so I don't need to use software rendering, but I don't know that OGL supports my video card or OS (regretablly, my OS is XP =P)

I have C++, I have the SDK, and I have appropriate knowledge of C++ coding, but do I compile the cpps and h's from the dll folder into a dll or what do I do with the edited cpp files?

My map has ladders that are using the solid/255 rendering mode and fx amount properties, but when they are viewed using software rendering, they are either invisible or the space in between the rungs are blue. This problem is not present when using D3D rendering. My fault or the computers fault?

Im trying to get a barney to continually look into a retinal scannner then
pull back, look into it again pull back, and so on, but when I put him there to look into it, he looks pulls back looks, pulls back, but as soon as I get near him, he turns around, looks at me, then, he performs the animation, but facing me. How do I get him to keep on looking at, pulling back, and so forth to the scanner, without even noticing me? I have him set on prisoner.

Im working on a map and when you shoot a missle or cause an explosion in a small room, the lighting goes haywire. Everything becomes dark in other rooms in the map but you can see the lighting shades change on your gun as you walk along. Im making a mod and I want it to be playable in co-op over lan. I know in regular HL multiplay, any monsters you place in the map wont be there when you play it on lan. How can I make it so that the monsters show up in multiplay. Come to think of it, how do I make a mod playable in CO-OP in general?????

I am making a nightclub map and I have a button that you hit that turns out the lights, party lights go on, and music begins to play. I want to set it up so that when I hit the button, the aliens that I have placed begin dancing nonstop until I hit the button again. I already have set up the entitys, but I hit the button, the alien quickly performs the set animation, and the goes back to idleing. I want it so that when I hit the button, the aliens keep on performing the animayion nonsop, until I hit the button again. HOW??? Also, I'm using aiscripted_sequence entitys.
