Just go to File > Import > Internet Explorer Favourties, or something like that. They're usually stored in Documents and Settings > Username > Favourites.

Be careful with Moore's films. Although he does raise a good few points, a lot of his stuff is cleverly edited to give you a false image.

The whole gun rule thing in America is the most stupidest thing I've ever heard. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I doubt that Queen Elizabeth II is gonna march into the US and steal it!

Hotmail should work fine in FF, it works in Opera. Windows Live Mail, however (the flashy, IE user interface) doesn't work in Opera and from what I've seen, it's probably better that way.

Ah, good. I really loved the archway that leads into the inaccesible alleyway, but I'm with Trapt a little here: it needs a 3D skybox. One of the comments in the Map Vault said it need a 3D skybox to give it a height or point of reference. I'd really think about adding one.

Apart from that, I liked it.

Bunny hoping is the infamous sniper avoision technique used in the "golden days" of the original Counter-Strike. It involved you jumping in the air and crouching while in the air in an attempt to make it difficult for a sniperer to aim at you (I think that's what it is anyway).

VALVe removed the "technique" from CS:S.

Alex's points are spot on. I can find no dead set, definate reason why people STILL use Internet Explorer. All I hear is stuff like "Oh, it's too different" or some other lame excuse.

I'm sorry, but I WON'T support a browser that does not conform to Internet standards. These standards are set by the W3C (the creators of the Web, essentially). Why do you think pages that render fine in IE look totally fucked in Opera or FireFox? Because the page doesn't conform to the standards and as such, Opera and FF read it as faulty code (as they should).

I certainly hope that people who still use IE are doing so after they've tested Opera and/or FireFox for an extensive period of time. If you haven't, then you are COMPLETELY wrong. I don't care what the hell you say, but a two-day trial is utter bullshit.

By the way, did you know that a while ago, Microsoft setup the Hotmail page in such a way that if an Opera user was detected, the server would send a different version of the site to the user? This prevented us from doing a few things, the most famous being the emptying of the Junk E-Mail box. Don't believe me? Wikipedia it. A couple of Opera dev's found out, which forced M$ to change the site.

in [CS:S] - de_venetia (WIP) Post #173248
Thanks for the comments, Cap'n. I understand what you mean by the 90-degreeness of the map, but that's because I'm fastidious about neat mapping. It can be my downfall sometimes.

As for the canals: I'm currently experimenting with making those canals a part of the gameplay. By doing this, I'm hoping that it will create a more Venice-y feel. This is an experimentation phase however: I have the original backed-up in case it all goes wrong.

I've decided to remove the sloping road and put all the buildings that were at that level right down to sea-level. The two canels will open up into the "street" which is now water based. As such, I can now add a variety of bridges and whatnot to make it more visually interesting.

The map itself is a fairly tight, balanced, action-packed romp. Tactics come in how fast you can move from one point to another. This is my first CS map, so I'm not really sure if I've done it correctly (I'm hoping it looks sweet anyway). The changes I'm trying may greatly alter the balance, or it may improve it. Not sure yet! Gonna be a while before I can get something that resembles a beta out, it's an absolute mess at the moment.

System Restore sucks. You know why? A few years ago, I kept finding the exact same virus on my computer. The reason? System Restore was keeping it safe for me, so it could be restored the next time I use it. THANKS SYSTEM RESTORE!

Waste of HDD space to me. My computer health is excellent. I run a spyware scan every few months, and the results? One or two harmless trackers. Opera, Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware, Trend Micro and ZoneAlarm Pro for the win!

Stop-motion animation is incredibly time consuming. It took Aardman Studios over 3 years to create the Wallace and Gromit film. They basically shoot a second of film a day (24 frames per second is the standard for film). So 24 individual cuts for each second of footage. Amazing, isn't it?

The performance boost when using a batch compiller is not little: its actually fairly major, depending on your rig. On my computer, if I use Hammer to compile Source maps, I can pretty much forget about doing anything else. If I do, I can't bring Hammer back up to check the progress of the compile.

Nem's batch compiller is superb. If you hover over the flags, it'll give you a little description of the option. Also, if you're having trouble setting it up, or putting together a set of compile options, check Nem's site for tutorials, which I'm sure will help you immensly.

BrattyLord: I really cannot see how you can stand the Hammer compiller, apart from having the extremly minor issues of having to load a batch compiller.

Very interesting. (I remember Griz, btw.)

So you basically want a more stategic approach to a FPS? Something that more resembles real-life (i.e. you can create diversions, you can sneak around without getting found, etc etc). I'm not sure how this could be accomplished with Source though: I don't think its A.I. was designed for this in mind. However, I must admit that I agree with you, so long as it isn't too insanely difficult.

Looking forward to the demo.
