Or is all of this still WIP?

That is weird indeed.
But i have news for you:

Im learning the power of Regular Expressions, a powerfull way to provide concise and flexible means for identifying text of interest, such as particular characters, words, or patterns of characters.

This means that you no longer have to type in your Steam Account Name. :)

What about a compo?

The Hunter (since he intoduced AudioSurf on TWHL the first) picks a song, makes it available for download, then everyone else downloads it and try to get the highest score for that song in a week time (or shorter/longer) and the person with the highest score at the end of that period gets to choose the next song and so on, and so on, and so on. We can have a public score table for each song that's been played. Statistics ftw.

Fun anyone?

You just race and collect colored blocks for points. More clusters of the same colored block equals bigger points.

Yes, but the gameinfo.txt is in different subfolder in each Source game directory. For example:

The gameinfo.txt file for HL2 is in half-life 2hl2.
The gameinfo.txt file for Ep1is in half-life 2 episode oneepisodic.
The gameinfo.txt file for HL2 is in half-life 2 episode twoep2

Its just confusing.

Plus, i don't know how to get specific data from text file such as the gameinfo.txt, as each gameinfo.txt is different, or slightly different.

Well, at this point im not really getting anywhere with Source support. Its gonna take a little longer for me to get support for Source mods and Source games. Why?

Because the directory structure of Source is a whole lot more complex than GoldSource.

in spawning half-life wepons Thread Post #245815
Use a monstermaker for that. Not only can it spawn monsters, it can spawn waeapons, ammo and items and perhaps even more.

In the Monster Type field you type in the entity name of the weapon you wish to spawn (ie: weapon_gauss).

To make it repeatable you can try this:
  • Each time the mm is triggered (only if the weapon has been picked up)
  • Have it automatically spawn a new weapon when the player picks up the weapon already spawned.
You need to play with the other properties and flags because i don't remember exactly how its done.

If it is "inside" a brush then you won't see it ingame. Make sure that the center origin of the sprite is not obstructed by brush geometry.

If the player start entity has a Trigger Condition property, set the Trigger Condition to death, and Trigger Target to the env_fade, or multimanager if you want to trigger, more than just the fade (think sound, text, wahtever).

in Blank Screen Post #245708
Use the env_fade entity. It allows you to fade the screen. Check the Glossary for more info about this entity.
Also, you're here long enough to know that this isn't the correct forum.

Moved.

Srsly tho. This looks cool. I envy your skill, mostly because I have no idea how to write a program. As soon as you get a Source version I'm all over it.
Ill tell you what: im not even a skilled programmes, i just make use of basic knowledge i get from books. Everything else is stuff i found on the Internet.

As for the name, its not a high priority thing at the moment, but keep making up names!

You might make the mapnames double-clickable if it's not too hard... I keep doubleclicking them, looking away to relax for a second, and noticing nothing happens! Or even a "start map" button.
So you want three different ways of starting a map:
  • By hitting enter
  • By clicking a button
  • By doubleclicking a mapname
Anything else? :P I like the doubleclicking so im adding that. There will be no button.
Yeah, or even better do toggle switches for -sv_cheats 1 -dev, -console, or just automatically load them by default (what would it hurt).
Consider it done.

As for the application names: a little more serious perhaps, even though i kinda like
-Mapstart(er)
-MuzzleFlash's Initiate Level Utility

Need moar names!

Thanks Captain Terror, that actually makes me wanne add more features, fix more bugs (if reported) and of course a prowed feeling. Harr. laughing -

And yes, Source maps and mods spport will eventually be added.
The splash screen and console still loads visibly (is it supposed to),
In WON or Steam HL? Probably WON, because i use the -dev and -console parameters for WON. I might remove that, but it doesn't matter anyway as long as the selected mod and map load correctly.
I might also add an option to manually add commands and params, -dev -console for example.
There's plenty of room for improvements.

One other thing: "Half-Life Launcher" isn't really an original title, so if any of you can think of any cool names for the app, ill choose the one that fits the purpose of the application best and ill be using that.

Yes. At first i made this for myself, but i decided to share it with you guys as well. The problem is that i did'nt beta test this enough, but you did, you used the program and found some bugs which i fixed.

So... i guess i should thank you for testing it and for letting me know what bugs you've found.

Will you be using the new version? I've fixed the issue where normal HL was launched instead of the mod you've selected in Steam. Should work now. I've been testing this thing for hours today, getting it to work, and trying to make it crash proof.

in [UTILITY] Half-Life Launcher Post #245574
UPDATED!
I think the problem here is that, when you select a map thats from a different mod than hl, the "Hl Launcher" still launches the normal hl instead of the mod, and because of that it can't load the map, which is in a different directory.
Fixed.
put in a check for the maps folder - it hard crashed when i accidentally switched to the 'errorlogs' folder without thinking.
Done.

If you've used a previous version of the Half-Life Launcher and it crashed on you, you need to delete the registry values. They are located in

SOFTWAREAtomsTools

So delete AtomsTools. Then use the new version.

A similar program for Source and Source mods would be nice.
That is a planned feature. And since you're the first one to propose this, i want you (if possible) to test the current release of the Half-Life Launcher, because i need to know if it finally works (It works fine here though).
