Jesus I need a new wallpaper
Don't mind all the pictures at the bottom. I'm working on a FEAR map for The Hidden Source and I've been rather busy converting textures.

I really like that line. Disturbing lines that make no sense tickles my fancy in ways you couldn't imagine. They make for good slogans.
By the way, this ARG was put together exceptionally well. I still have doubts as to whether its actually an ARG though, and not just some kind of experiment(or even something real, highly doubtful at this point though).

Well I think it's because many are just used to your old name, Worldcraft Dude.
not so much. People get it wrong all over FPSB and CDG too ;) And you guys have always been calling me WCD because both parts of my name were too generic for a nickname and the whole thing was too long. If I had always been World Crafter I'd probably be "Crafter" or something now :P But I've been using this name for a long time now and I really like it and I intend to stick with it.
And you can always be a dude, right? I mean, as long as you aren't about to get a sex change or something...
I'll always be a dude at heart :aggrieved:
Whatever, too much talk about names. Moving on...

So, I judge the next one because I won the car compo, right?
Objection! Kinda... we've already had a statue compo, and one of the entries was an animal. It seems rather redundant. How about mapping a gun? Needless to say they would have to be scaled up, but that could be a good feature. Judging would be based on accuracy, and of course, detail. Eh? Eh? Ehhhhhh?
PS: References galore
I've given this one a lot of though :( So yeah, my suggestion:
Map a firearm

For me, it's not the movie that's scary, it's how the movies came about, why the movies were made in the first place, and what they mean. looking into these things gives me the shivers.
Its the fact that they are so confusing ;) People fear what they do not understand more than anything else.

4D? Thats like adding a dimension! And stuff...
Its just what they call the scan. Its a 3d scan of the fetus that can be rendered in realtime.

This is not for the weak of heart.
When Srry posted the first video in the shoutbox, I couldn't stop thinking about it. It wasn't so much that it was frightening(though it was pretty eerie), it was that it intrigued me so much. As far as I know there are 4 videos right now, and I can't get them out of my head. These things terrify me, truely, but I can't stop reverting back to them.
Oh, and for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, here:
Video 1
Video 2
Video 3
Video 4
There are a lot of possible explanations for this, read this thread for a pretty interesting discussion about the videos.
But here's what I think: Silent Hill Origins, though my basis is a little shaky. The initial trailor for SH Origins(seen here) featured a song, and some of the lyrics went "You can lose all you have to the town that takes all", which I associate with the text from video #4. Alone this isn't much of a bsis, I know, but apparently the music in the 4th video is form Silent Hill... so maybe? Then again its more than likely not, since there are so many things that can also be linked to these videos.
In any case it should be interesting to see what this thing really is about. Discuss...

What, you mean in real life? It would have to be held on the sun, as anyone who would want to meet a TWHL in the real world must burn :o I'd really like to talk to Rowley and 7th, though there's really nobody that I wouldn't want to have a chat with(save Athlete, bleh).
And I'd have a good whack at Zomkbie with a trout, maybe if I busted him open candy would pour out :P

Reguardless of who wins the build-a-car compo, I want to throw this out there because I really like the idea. I thought about this after watching CSI:
Build a room, make it as detailed as possible, then build a detailed miniature replica of your room inside your room(it would have to be at least 1/8th scale, or even smaller to fit on a tabletop or something). Copying the room, pasting it, and rescaling wouldn't work for this, as most of you should know that scaling the kind of detail that we put into these maps would go far beyond sub-unit brushes, so it would be impossible to cheat :)

in Phong textures in maps Post #212984
Simple question for the select few who know this: can phong maps be applied to world textures and function ingame or can they only be applied to models? I've tried some testing but even after trying several different phong configurations(all of which would function on a model, trust me I add phong to my skins manually all the time I know what I'm doing). And if it isn't possible, are there any alternatives outside of env masks?

You've got to admit, this should be funny for everyone apart from Habboi
It should? I know I'm blowing this way out of proportion, but if the same thing was done with the picture of a deceased person, instead of a cat, would it still be funny? It wasn't funny at all, it was just sick and incredibly disrespectful.
Or maybe its because i just watched Jackass 2. Either way. Meh.
Right on!

Probably the best HL2 MP mod out there right now, next to The Hidden(in my own, humble opinion). I played this during the betas and it was fun as shit. I'm going to have to download the latest version when I get the chance.

That would be a screenshot of the bumpmapping.
Just download it and give it a try, there are some very nice effects, most of which can't be captured by a screenshot.

^That's not a texture trick, it's dynamic light shining through the texture. The shadows that it casts are also projected onto models, so it looks even better when you are running through it or when an npc is.

A new beta, and SP demo, was released of this a few days ago. Half Life FX brings a shitload of new, amazing effects to the Goldsource engine. It kinda does to visuals what Spirit did for entities. Although right now it's quite a resource hog, you can do some pretty awesome crap. Check it out: http://chainstudios.hlfx.ru/index.php?do=hlfxs&lan

in Bulls hit game_text crash Post #212342
Scenario:
Multi_manager:
name - viper
target - text1; targeted after 2 seconds

Game_text:
name - text1
text - World Crafter proudly presents
X - 0.3
Y - 0.5
text effect - fade in/out
fade in time - 0.5
fade out time - 0.5
hold time - 2
text channel - channel 1

Trigger_auto:
target - viper
trigger state: on
delay before trigger: 2
Half Life crashes every time my multi_manager triggers the game_text. There is nothing wrong with the setup here. What you see is what I have in my map, so what the fuck could possibly be going on? Please answer as fast as possible, thank you.

Here's how it works:
1. Compress your map and the map's source in a ip or rar folder.
2. Upload the folder to a server.
3. Don't post it here, as you will endanger my chances of getting mine in.
4. Don't tell anyone where to download the map.
5. Eat Cheetos.
