catching stuff out of the corner of your eye, but not being sure of doing so plays with your subconscious mind something awful.

FEAR would have done it perfectly if it wasn't for that bloody stupid voilin strike every time you see something in the shadows.

Excessive unexplained gore can work well, too. Just seeing someone slaughtered horribly isn't terribly scary, but if it's unexplained, or you just find the corpse/blood stains then it can mess with you.

1. Crashes. hardware/driver conflictions generally. Not XP.

2. Viruses. Protect yourself better.

3. Internet Explorer. Windows doesn't force you to use their shite Browser. Upgrade to Opera

4. Outlook. Again, plenty of alternatives.

again, wrong editor.

Source doesn't use .wad files. They're HL1 only.

Source uses .vtf image format for the images themselves, and .vmt to store the information about the texture (whether it's reflective & what material it is etc)

No, he's trying to map for Source with Hammer 3.4/3.5 which is for the Goldsource(HL1) engine.

You need Hammer 4, my friend, available via the Source SDK, which is in turn available over Steam for the sweet price of ?0

Firstly, all of the points Penguinboy made were perfectly rational and non-provocative, so why you had to take a pre-pubescant hissy fit is beyond me.
Secondly, nobody has even hinted that steam is the best program in the world. We are simply pointing out that it's on-the-whole very good at what it was made for.
Thirdly, if steam crashes your machine then you've got a really shitty PC. Steam works just fine for all the other few million people who use it.
Fourth(ly?), You rather failed to explain how it doesn't run with utorrent, nor how it "screwed up" your dad's e-mail.

Your attitude stinks, and if you want an enjoyable, productive time at TWHL, I suggest you work to improve it.

in anyone up for a trade? Post #242007
No, if you have duplicate games, for example people who bought the orange box when they already had HL2 & Ep1, you can send the spare copy to a friend with a steam account.

I don't think you can just do it with games you don't play.

Further, if you could, these are "gifts."
There is no actual need for a 2-way transaction, and thusly someone could easily say "i'll take them," get you to send it as a gift then bugger off. And you could do nothing because not only should you know this, but there's probably a bit of writing somewhere in the TaC which states that such trades using the gift system are illegal.

in HL2: Overwatch (WIP) Post #241935
User posted image
The premise of this upcoming mod has been developed from a very early idea thought up by my good friend TunaDavid several months ago. The idea was fairly simple: To make a HL2 mod similar to Opposing Force wherin you play as Gordon's enemies.
Upon playing The Citizen, it became clear that the best option would be to play as a regular combine foot soldier and unlike the vast majority of single player mods, make the game mission-based rather than a linear following of a story.
That makes up the core plan.

Now for some details:
THE ORANGE BOX WILL BE REQUIRED TO PLAY

Overwatch will be a single player Half-Life 2 modification. Overwatch will follow the path of an innocent citizen - Alan Milligan - who gets combine surgery and becomes a Combine foot soldier.
Rather than the standard linear story following gameplay seen in most HL games, Overwatch will be mission based. The player will be able to choose which missions he undertakes, and completing missions will unlock harder ones.
The player will choose weapons from an armoury before going on missions, with more powerful weapons being made available as the game progresses.

There will be 3 stages of 4 missions with each individual mission being anything up to 4 maps long. Each stage will be designated a rank, but simply put, they are Easy, Medium and Hard.
After first recieving the combine surgery, the player will play a combine boot camp style training mission before being sent to the Easy stage mission select room. The player can choose any of the 4 missions in the easy stage, but must complete at least 3 to advance to the medium stage.
In between the stages there will be special missions which will be unavoidable and will drive the plot.

I don't really want to say any more for fear of spoiling, but if you have any questions about my thuroughly incoherent post, just write a reply and i'll get back to you.
