Adding to the central area from the start of the thread...
In case any of you are wondering (and since Ant and I discussed it the other day) I'm actually working with two vmf's. One for the street area and one for the centre.. obviously it's only a matter of time before I join them together (not sure how I'm going to do that yet :P )

Anyway... the lighting's better than etape... probly the sky that makes you think of it...

New building is funkeh, love the curves on that baby...

Yeh, a different theme will be an advantage, not a disadvantage...
The idea was to see what we could do with the original textures but also make it creative..
I'm not giving anything away on mine... though most people on IRC have seen the shots :P

If you come back from Jamaica... you'll realise I have so many screens that I've been stuffing them into large containers because I don't know what to do with them...

hmmz...T spawn looks really cramped :P but who cares? whooo!
Um, add a door from the house onto that balcony..how do the people living in the house get there? flying?
fix the goddamn rail texture.. it should be pretty easy with alt-right.
This map has such a warm bubly look... put in chimneys!!!
Think about railing up some of the stairs maybe..
Feeling a little bit squished atm.. I think some form of 3d skybox/ building facades would give it a bigger feel.. besides that... get some interesting things on the sides, vendors, fish'n'chips :P get some detail in there and maybe a garden or two... with pretteh fences curving around it :o

"You see, the waiting booth for the train cannot look good with brushwork."-> The waiting booth can look good with brushwork... your brushes can be a lot smaller in source and you can make very detailed transport structures...look up some ref.
"it would look too blocky for source" -> Your allowed to change it..

You know I'm in...
Only have one problem with a rule:
"You will be judged on how well you not only establish the theme of the screenshot, but also how well you establish its own unique theme. " <- shouldn't "it's" be replaced with 'your' -> 'how well you establish your own unique theme' ?
The way you've worded it makes it sound like your saying the same thing twice, the theme of the screenshot and it's (the screenshot's) own unique theme?

Edit: I'll put it here anyway.
Basically when I say mini-mod format I mean they aren't included in the bsp. so you have to manually paste it all into your folder. The easiest thing to do is to unrar/unzip it into your /Counter-Strike Source file and on top of your /cstrike file. It's basically set up like the cstrike folder, with maps, materials, models etc.
If the problem continues inform me about it..

The problem with HL2 on xbox was the hype that came with hl2 was directed at pc owners...therefore everyone owning an xbox and a pc (probably most people owning an xbox) got it on pc first :x
Since valve will now be creating 'new' games for xbox directly, they'll have heaps more sales.... supposedly

Who knows, maybe they'll pee some more new games off to the 'wii' console as well
