Same error, different numbers in the parenthesis and such. Yea I tried restarting Steam. If it gets to be a serious pain in the ass I'll probably just deal with it or wait till Valve decides to toss out a patch.

Thanks for the input though guys

Yea all of those work fine, everything works fine except for the Source SDK.

sigh the validation thing didn't help at all. Creating a shortcut to my desktop did though, but it still bugs me that it is like that. Ah well, maybe it'll go away in awhile once Valve decides to release a patch for Source SDK. /me waits patiently

Thanks man, that'll do for now :D I'm pretty sure it won't interfere with anything except for the fact that the Source SDK start menu won't start up and give me all those nice little thingys huh?

Ah well, at least I can open Hammer now :D

So I double click Source SDK, yanno, getting ready to whip out some handy dandy Hammer and make some big gay map because I can't map for shit.

ANYWAY, so I get this error:
MountFilesystem( 221 ) failed: SteamMountFilesystem(3944,221,0x50efbfc=,0x50efd0c) failed with error 116: Cache needs repair

Damnit this gets so old sometimes, why can't life NOT be a living hell :( I tried deleting my local game content.. that was a no-go, yea don't even say "Restart your computer" because that didn't work either. I was thinking about deleting the folder, but I don't want to delete the wrong folder so I'm like "Wow hey, there are some dudes who know what's up at TWHL so I r teh think mes going there should help".

in Running the Map Post #77324
Ok... so I compiled the map (yea yea, I checked off the "Don't Run the Game After Compiling" thing) and it compiles the .txt, .vmf, .bsp and .prt to my C:Program FilesSteamSteamAppsUsernamesourcesdkhl2mp_sample_contentmaps...

So now that I did that, I'm supposed to open Half-Life 2 DeathMatch (via Steam of course) and open up my console and type in "map mapname" and it should open, right? Well if that's so, it won't work. I'm getting a "Map name doesn't exist or is invalid"...

Any input would be much heart :D

This could be the narbest question someone has ever asked, but I don't feel like taking the time to look since I just got done overpowering that worthless gameinfo.txt bug. Anyway, I have NO idea where the hell I need to put my maps for Half-Life 2 DeathMatch. When I put them in those folders, I went into Half-Life 2 Deathmatch (via Steam) and made a server, brought up console and typed "map mapnamehere" and it didn't work.. I tried compiling to both

Program FilesSteamSteamAppsUsernamehalf-life 2 deathmatchhl2mpmaps

.... didn't quite work out... same with

Program FilesSteamSteamAppsUsernamesourcesdkhl2mp_sample_contentmap

s
and that was also a no-go. So any help would me = give you a <3 and maybe something else.... >:D

Activating Console:

If you created a shortcut to the desktop when you installed Half-Life 2, right click on the icon and go to Properties. At the end of the "Target:" command line, just add in "-console" and run Half-Life 2 from there instead of double clicking it on the Steam panel. However, I bought the CD instead of pre-ordering it on Steam so I'm not sure if Steam Purchasers had a chance to put it on their desktop or not.
