my camera view of hammer is black, it makes it really hard to do anything :

well i never did much hl2 or cs:s mapping so it's still a bit new to me.were could i find those prefabs you see in cs_office? like the computers, projectors, soda machines etc. under prefabs i have "box"...and hl2 prefabs theres like 12 hl2 related prefabs that arent really useful when trying to make an office building type map :nuts:

it spins through the object,im not sure what im doing wrong, so im gonna go through it step by step.i should also mention its a fan laying down on something. (fan tut didnt help much :/)

1. i made a fan
2. put an origin brush through it
3. checked the start on and y axis boxes

the only problem i can think of is the origin not being tied to the correct entitiy

How much coding would i have to do if i wanted to to take weapons out of of CS:S and put it into HL2 or vice versa?Or would it be as simple as just putting files from one folder into another?

Kasperg-only when i try and compile my own source maps

and the error shows up in the console. but ill have to try the alt+tab idea thanks

btw i just noticed the camera in hammer doesnt work either arghhhh

Ive been trying to map for source lately, but every time i compile a map its either pitch black or the character and weapon skin are completely black.

I get this error Error: Material "engine/occlusionproxy" uses unknown shader "Occlusion" i have a feeling its something to do with my graphics card. not sure though. Any help is appriecated. :]

i had kind of an interesting idea...would it be possible to use one sky texture on one side of the map and then using another sky texture on another part so it looks like on part of the map is in....lets say the city.While the other lets say...the mountains?

its not that its hard to memorize half-life 2, its just that hl1 > hl2. it has a higher replay value. i played through half-life 2 maybe 3 times...half-life 1 on the other hand...like a billion :)

Im making a map with a leaky pipe, and ive tried two things to make water droplets. 1.using env_blood (suggested in the rope,waterfall, and water drop tutorial.) and 2. sprite based water drops. Im not sure what the problem is with the first env_blood based water drops...they just dont show up in the map. But the second sprite based water drops work, but have a black background and are not transparent...which make it look very ugly : Help for any of these problems is greatly appreciated :)

a while back i was messing around with the colors of weapons, and every time id put the new model into my mods pak0 file,half-life would freeze up and id get an error message. then i noticed theres three diffrent files for each weapon. for instance theres p_crowbar.mdl , v_crowbar.mdl , and w_crowbar.mdl. is there a specific one i have to change or do i have to replace all of them in order to change the color of a hl weapon?

when i placed ambient_generic in a map it didn't work. so i went back and read the tutorial. and it says that the .wav file i want to play has to be in the valve/sound/ambience folder. but theres no sound folder inside my valve folder : so i made one ( a sound/ambience inside the valve folder.), but that didnt work either...any ideas?

well i only have 512 mb of ram, and when i have aim running, internet explorer open,and downloading things, my computer tends to run slower so i try to shut off everything i dont need.

i dont know about other people but personaly i prefer not using steam to make maps. its easier for me, and saves memory cuz steam doesnt have to run.
