Douglas Preston - Tyrannosaur Canyon

If you're into believable sci-fi, then you must read from these authors:
Douglas Preston
Lincoln Childs
Michael Crichton

And if you like action with a female hero, then anything from Janet Evanovich.

Just a note about carving: If you use a box (rectangular solid) to carve, it's not so bad. But NEVER EVER CARVE WITH A CYLINDER!!! If you do, you spend the next hour removing invalid solids and patching leaks.

no, only the ones on tv or the ones in the government. (G. W. B., not to mention anyone by name...)

Christmas is funny with it's themes of snow, and a "winter wonderland." Half the world is in midsummer during christmas. But not me, in the us. Hah.

yeah. I've tried to kill an attacking headcrab with a rocket launcher. Not only is it a wasteof ammo, it kills you too. And also "sandtraps" or whatever it's called in hl2 is scary, (and part of hwy17) with the dark tunnels and the fast zombies, and then in sandtraps, you're jumping from rock to rock, and it's lonely, and then the antlions kill you.

Congrats to anyone who can understand what I just said.

There was a slow zombie hidden in a dark corner in Ravenholm. It's the large town center area where you had to climb to the rooftops and jump from building to building. That was scary.
holy shit yes! Ravenholm is the only part of hl2 that scares me every time I play it. And the only part that has any replay value for me.

in custom transparent textures Post #141985
for a func_wall or func_illusionary, the fx amount (assuming the render mode is set to "solid" or "texture") is the transparency. 255 is fully opaque (so you'd use that with "solid" render mode for, say, ladders) and 1 is (for all intents and purposes) fully transparent. I usually use 100-128 for glass, with render mode "texture".

if you're going for just 1 monitor, get a crt, they're still cheaper than lcds. But if you really want 2 (I actually only use 1 monitor/computer, usually) then go with 2 lcds, or 1 lcd and 1 crt, to get rid of the wavy effect!

When I had 2 monitors next to each other (the two that don't show up in my pic) they flickered something awful and had wierd colors. Use lcd's. @sethorian: All you need to do is find people who have old computer junk and are willing to give it away. For example: My huge monitor is not available new anymore (I think) and the lcd is a rather old one, too.

It could be a paths-with-spaces problem.
It's not. The paths to everything on my system have multiple spaces! In the hammer configuration, check that you actually typed "program files" instead of "progra~1", maybe that's it.
edit: And make sure that ALL of the commands in the "expert" mode are enabled, because I think i've seen this before, I think it couldn't find the game directory. Go through hammer's settings, make sure every field is filled out correctly. In other words: double check again.

in setting up my mod Post #140888
how i create a shout box (like the one on this site)
and how i make the entire site need a username and password (set by admin--me) to veiw content so people don`t get all our souce codes?
You guys are getting a little ahead of yourselves, it seems. First of all, you need web site hosting. Tekcities is not up as of oct 11 05, and to have a shoutbox/user accounts... you need some sort of server-side scripting (like php.) TWHL is written in php, but it is the result of several years' work and apparently several revisions. I would suggest that you find yourself a web coder to set something like this up for you. (note: tekcities does not allow scripting.) Alternatively, you could have a web site on a free host, and use a file upload service (like fileplanet.us, from the same people who bring us tekcities) and only give the people working on the mod the password. Again, I suggest that you find a web designer, leaving you guys free to work on the more important aspects of your mod. (that was a little long-winded, don't you think?) Anyway, I hope that this helps. Good luck.
