true. But if I didn't shout at all until I had been here 400days, that would be .75 posts per day. But if you want to be pwned, thats ok.

lol. I've got some very nice tower speakers like that, but my dad was told to "make them go away", so he did.

if software runs slow, then you have a crappy computer. With software mode, allof the graphics processing is done by the cpu. (duh) as well as game logic, so if you have a fast comp, then it should actually be pretty fast!

@m0p: are they crt's? probably, otherwise you wouldn't bother to mention the refresh rate. That's nice!

I only ever want to have one monitor, because more than one takes up too much space. If I could get one that supported 2048x1536 native, i'd be happy. (lcd only!!!)

3072x768 resolution
How many monitors is that?

I, personally, like to use my laptop display(1280x800) and my crt(1600x1200) at the same time, gives me uber room for photo editing.

I think mine might have a higher refresh rate than 60, even at 1600x1200, but I haven't been able to get information about it yet (damn dialup!)

And software isn't half bad when that is all that is available to you.

w00t! I just got a monitor big enough to do that, and hl really doesn't look much better at that resolution, but hl2 sure does.

19 inches of pure and violent half-life.

Now on the topic, like elon said, software is buggy, and therefore doesn't deserve to be used.

well, it's a 1 year technical certificate, and I really don't plan to go into web design as a profession. Maybe as a side job. And BrattyLord, I've only been on TWHL for 55 days! give me a break.
Who thinks it's time for a thread on jobs? or has there already been one?

i only get paid $7.10
You get $7.10 doing what you are interested in, and I get $6.50 cleaning the kitchen at a nursing home. I'd rather be building computers, or networks, or desiging web pages, or something. (After I finish my college classes this year, though, i'll be able to do web design as a business!)

Consider yourself lucky, especially at this time in your life! Most teenagers do not get the chance do do a job that they kinda like.

Mr.Frag that will need a lot of work with func_wall_toggles and it wont be perfect.
I don't think you get what i'm saying. I'll make an example map, and show you what I mean. But if you want to do it with spirit, and if you could, why not? It sounds like the sort of mod that everyone should have, anyway.
Posted 18 years ago2005-09-26 13:16:08 UTC
in Moving Ladder Post #137594
would work! Depends on the context, though. if the point was to try to jump onto a moving ladder, then that wouldn't work. If you needed to jump onto a moving ladder, you have a func_train with a ladder texture brush and 2 clip brushes, and a wide invisible ladder. If you try to jump onto the ladder and hit the clip brushes, it won't work, but if you make it between them, you'll hit the func_ladder, and be pushed back and forth by the 2 clip brushes.

Note that this is not tested, and therefore not guaranteed by me. If you don't understand it, pm me and i'll post an example map.

software mode, I believe, was only included in half-life as a "last resort" for those people whose computers sucked so much that they didn't have a compatible video card,. (like my first half-lifing computer. I beat the game on that computer with cheats!)

btw, I can't do voice acting, unless you're absolutely desparate.
run it @ 1024x768
It looks better in 1600x1200, but runs like crap.

I've been trying to make lab-related type stuff, what sort of things do you need? Do you want stuff that's just pretty to look at, stuff that the player can use, or things that can actually hurt the player?

I almost wish that there was someone here at twhl that I liked to piss off (well, there's jimmi, but I think that everyone did a pretty good job of that) But there isn't.

BrattyLord: someone that I have never heard of but has been here 657 days.
Status: nice (I think)

Luke: Another twhl'er that I don't really know, but had a really unique avatar (until beeblebrox showed up) so he deserves mention.

I think ur some 20 year old non paying attention half-life player average in school? - Frag lol
i'm 17, 18 in 2 months.
I think that Fragmeister is ~13 - 16, he doesn't play HL too much, he's interested in mapping, but he didn't finish any maps yet.
I've finished maps! Just a few, though, and no good ones. I really don't have the time right now to put into good maps (school.)
I think this thread is just going to turn into a flamefest with lots of 1337 kids calling each other gay a lot.

I've always wondered what people online imagine me to be like, and I wonder what other people are like. Here's some of my impressions of twhl people

jimmi/onslaught/mr.plod... - dumb@$$ 13-or-so year old, really bored
Dorian27 - college graduate computer geek (in a good way :) )
Atom, ant, 7th - professional web page designer/coder
Tosse - bored swedish dude
Ansith - bored australian dude
zl - kid who likes to map 4 hl and generally contribute to the site

What do you think of me (and other people?)

Yes it is. But the one in psp 8 kicks ass! I just used it today, does a perfect job, unlike the gimp one, that flips parts of the image and does some trasparency shit. But the rest of the gimp pwns psp!
