So, okay, after all the pillars are one breakable, make them target a multimanager for target on break, then, the ceiling must be a func_train, and the first path_corner must be where the ceiling originally stands, then make a second path_corner where I want it to fall to, and on the first path corner just make its target the second one?

Okay Tosse, I tried what you said, and I'm getting weird results. Either the ceiling is somewhere else on my map in the air, or it just doesnt move.. Perhaps a step by step on how to do this? What I want is when one pillar breaks, they all break, and the ceiling falls down.

Okay, I searched the forums and tut, and I didnt see anything relating what I want.. If I missed it, please direct me to it and I apologize... but here is what I need to know how to do...

I have a tower, and a ceiling being held up by 4 pillars... I want to make it so when all or two out of four pillars are destroyed, the ceiling falls and kills anything under it. This is for a multiplayer map for CS 1.6. Can this be done? And if not, is there something close to it that can be done? Thanks.

A tough one to figure out, vague error that usually shows up when you start the game or during compile, or even when WC/Hammer starts up - you have gone over the memory limit somewhere for some reason. It can be too little RAM (128M is about minimum), a leaf saw into leaf error, too long pathnames, too many textures, too big a level, too big or too many model/sprites, too big a wav sound file - or it could be that old "too many wads" mistake, a huge "noob" brush around the map to prevent leaks, too many SKY faces on hidden brush faces in the level - or even something else. Example: In early versions of NS, the 3D area info location entities were a major cause.
If it happens during compile, do not use WC/Hammer to "run" the map, but use a front end or batch file to compile with. You could also get more RAM.
(The following may still be handy, however be aware that Software mode allocates memory dynamicly, so it may automaticly seem to "fix" any error. Therefore the following info MAY lead you into a dead end:
Some brush-based entities have rendering properties that, when they interact in OpenGL/D3D video cards, they crash. Switch Half-Life to Software mode first, then load the map. If it loads you now know it is something that is handle different in software, then for Opengl/d3d check water, glows, additive, sprites, transparencies (illusionaries, windows, ect.), env_beams and so on.)

If it happens in opening a level in WC, it may be you have an animating model showing in one view. You must switch to single view instead of multiple, and try different ones until you get past it.

I'm getting fullbrightness when I dont have any leaks. I have lights in my map, and a sky. What else could be causing a fullbright map? The only errors I get are these and I dont know how to fix them because theres no brush numbers:

They go into the same place, dragons. I'm pretty sure the changes I made are gone. Especially with all this stuff I've been trying. I'm just going to have to make them again, but I need to know what is the best way to save my work so that if hammer crashes again, this stuff wont happen! Any ideas?

I did both file>save AND file>export .map. does doing file>export .map overwrite the file>save? I thought it saved them as different things or something so I did both for added security... gg lod -_-

Seventh: I'm still kind of new to mapping and I dont know what that means, lol, sorry.

Dandy: I will try that. Thanks. I'll let you guys know if I get the changes back somehow.

I did make frequent backups of my map, and when I load it it goes black, that's why I'm freaking out cause I saved and exported many times and it didnt help when it crashed :(

Dandy, I deleted those wads and stuff, and I tried the renaming stuff, and it still goes all black as if there are no brushes >_<
Anything else guys?

I don't have any .rmf OR .rmx files. All I have are .map files and then the little files like .lin or .pts and .p02 or some crap like that... I still have the my .map, but its just not updated with all the changes I made last night. And I don't see any point in trying to do it again because apparently it doesn't even save! >_<

Okay, I was making some modifications to my map, and I already had it crash on me once for some reason, so I made sure to save and export again every so often, and it crashed again. So I was like eh no biggie I just saved and exported. So I go to open up the .map file, and its COMPLETELY BLACK! Not a single brush at all! Why isn't there anything there?! Is there ANY WAY to get my updated work back?! Please help >_<!!!

Okay guys, I fixed it. I just started eliminating everything around the problematic area. I had quite a few plants in my river, and I got rid of some and the brushes didnt disappear! So I deleted some of the plants, and its all working now! Apparently, too many plants or something can cause that. Thanks for everyone trying to help me! Much appreciated!

Okay, I removed the water brushes from the river, and the ladder and some other stuff (that was disappearing before) are still disappearing. Could this be caused by a lighting issue or something??

No my map isnt huge, but its not small. I'm using zoners hl tools. and there are no leaks according to the compilation log.

The whole river isnt 1 brush, I mean just the brush is disappearing. Like, just the 1 brush I walk down will disappear halfway down it, but other parts of the river are on seperate brushes.

Elon: All my brushes are tied seperately. I selected them individually and tied them to func_water.

Muzzle: I made the render mode for the ladders solid instead of texture and they're just not fullbright now but they still disappear... What do I do guys I've been trying to get this map released for a long time :(

Yes, I made them func_water.

I did that, muzzle, except I think I made my ladder's render mode texture instead of solid. I'll try out solid.

And I didn't carve or VM any of the water or latter brushes. What else could be causing this? It happened before as well, and I remade the entire riverbank and water, and its doing it again just in different places. And the water brush that is disappearing is 1 brush. So I will walk halfway down the river brush and it disappears when I get to a certain spot...

I did a search for this but did not get a result so if theres already a post about this... Sorry.

My brushes are disappearing. A river that I make disappears when I get in a certain position near it or in it, as does the ladder near it. Can someone please tell me why a brush would just completely disappear when you get too close to it???

lol, Im gonna sound noob, which I am still in some places, but I love carving. I've never had a problem with it. I don't like clipping cause I dont know if it just doesn't do the stuff I want to, or if Im a retard. Both options are highly likely. Clipping just doesn't work for me.

Texture PI_GROUND and !WATERGREEN

So I checked the compiling errors thing, and it says that the brush must have the same textures. So I search for the entity, and applie the same texture to the brush, and I still get this error. Can anyone help me please?

I have the cstrike.wad in my textures tab in my options for hammer, yet I dont recognize any of my textures from CS. I dont have the dust textures, the office textures, aztec, anything.... Does anyone know why they don't show up? Like if I go to view cs_office to see how its done, not a single texture remains. This may happen whether I have the textures or not, but I still do not have the textures mentioned above in my hammer. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I added some fire sprites to my map. they are env_sprite entities, set as glow. The first couple of compiles, they worked fine. Now they show up in my hammer editor, and they look perfect, but when I compile the map, they're not in the map! I dont see any errors in my compile log. Can someone please help me? Did I disable something to where I can't see sprites or something? I need the fire for a fireplace. Any help is appreciated. I checked the flame tutorial, and I don't even have the sprite it uses, and I checked the entity tutorial and still nothing.

Thanks guys. It seems to have fixed itself. It the properties that I set werent saving for same reason. But I closed my editor and when I opened it back up the settings saved. Sorry for the trouble. Thanks for the help.

I read the glass tutorial. I followed the instructions exactly... I tied it to entity, its a glass texture, I go to properties, set the render mode to texture and fx amount to 100. I close the object properties box, and nothing! it doesn't become translucent or anything... I right click on it and click properties again and all it has is the vis group tab. Can someone please help me with this? Am I doing something wrong or have a setting incorrect?
