I used to be a GM on Ragnarok Online and I can tell you that there are no cheat codes for players. The commands that increase your level or stats are restricted to power users like GMs. This might be wrong though if you are playing on a pirate server where the "cheat" commands have been made available to the players.

One question though - Why cheat if the fun with playing RPG's are the actual leveling and becoming better?

I find this request funny, escpecially on these forums... :o

Edit: The power user commands usually start with @. Try @level 10 your name.

I'll make sure I study the texturing tutorials closely. I have never really picked textures with care before, just wrote something like "wall" or "lab" in the search and then picked one. I want that to change though so any tips you can give me will be welcome. I'll start in the tutorials though.

I thought maybe I should post my progress here so you guys can tell me how big I'm going to lose in the HLDM Contest. :)
I love getting comments from people and I know I am far from good at this so I'll take all criticism as help to improve.

I have just started texturing and I'm not sure about the current ones. And I will add a few more rooms/areas on the second floor too.

Cool, is it cheaper than in stores? I mean, as you won't get any CD's or instruction booklets/boxes for it?

And do I have to buy CS, HLDM, DoD, etc. by themselves or can I pay for all at the same time?

After this question is answered you can close this thread. :) I need to check answers on the internet instead of wasting your time with easy questions.

Even thinking about sex with animals makes me scared. I hope this is a joke...
The teddy bears are OK I guess but I have never felt like having sex with one.

About my "ideal" girl, I guess I don't have one. It differs a lot from girl to girl but at least I know I don't want fat, stupid or boring girls. After sorting those out, I choose by feeling. Did that sound weird?

I visited the game store today and to my big disappointment they said that Half-Life 1 is no more manufactured. I don't believe them but nether the less I will have to either unlock my code for $10 or find a online store and buy a copy. I'm starting to lean towards the unlocking option though it will take 2 weeks according to Steam.

Lol! When I said
Yeah, and I'm planning on keeping it this way too. nuts -
I was sarcastic back but maybe I didn't make it obvious enough. :P

Of course I am going to texture it as well, as soon as I am done with the solids. The lights are just there for now too and will be changed, as will the "white" which I'm just using to block the maps from leaks for now.

It's the way I work; create first, texture after. :D

In those countries, yeah. Must be a bitch to get anywhere there. If you think about the "50% phenomenon" in the US this aint the problem though. It's the slackers breeding on the system, just like the main topic of this thread was. But now I'm done here, gonna go back to mapping instead. :P

Well, if you believe in these texts then I guess the theory is true. They seem to be quite scientifically written so some of it is probably right anyway.

And as for the "kara" in Karate. Nowadays it has the meaning of "empty".

If noone helped noone, the smart people would make the money, right? In a few hundred years even the "lesser smart persons with money in the family" would have emptied their resources and become poor.

I agree that old people do not affect the evolution. Take that one back. :P

And of course, these are just thoughts and I would not want it to be any other way. I think it's wonderful that people may live longer because of our social systems. =)

I am not a facist, just letting myself to think like that sometimes in order to widen my perspective. It doesn't mean I want things to change.

How about this one?

Evolution, as you know, kills the weak and sick. By doing that, it lets only the specimen with good genes to breed and so the species evolve. However, the human race have destroyed this exquisite system by taking taxes from rich people and giving them to people without jobs and sick and old people. This way, we will in a few hundred years have mixed away all the good genes with stupid people and the human race will go backwards.

I know, I sound like a cynical freak and maybe I am sometimes. :cyclops:

But on the other hand; do we have the morale to just let the old people die even though they can be cured? Imagine telling your grandmother "No, you can't get that spinal surgery because I need the money for vacation in Thailand".

Worth thinking about...

Karate means "empty hand" in Japanese (I am studying Japanese by the way). This is a very old Japanese word and if the man from Okinawa implemented Karate from Kung Fu (which is not a word in Japanese, they can't even spell the "ng"-sound) it must have happened a very long time ago (i'd say ~1000 years ago) and therefore it can only be considered a myth or tale.

Conclusion: If you could say that this is true, you could probably also prove that Jesus existed etc.

These are two pics from the progress. Maybe 1/3 of the shaping done, then textures and entitys left. :tired: But it's great fun, never made this big a map before.

Thanks, M_gargantua!

I'll re-texture it all with the NULL if I get time later but I understand it's a good idea.
The solids are actually in-grid all of them but I might have decreased the grid frequency when I took the screenshot and therefore it seems to be off-grid.
The texture problem is something I have to solve, you're completely right about that. I usually manage to get around it by resizing the textures but I'll definately keep the heigh variations in mind on the next map and from now on. ;)

Thanks guys, I'm glad you think it will work out. ;)
Im doing my design a clever way. I litaraly making a simple model (Like Arhcitects do) of the map/layout in Hammer.
Interesting method. Maybe I should try that sometime. Right now, the paper and my memory will do. :o

Here's a pic of what I made so far.

I have roughly drawn the first floor of my new map and I thought maybe someone can give me interesting ideas if they get to see what I drew. The map is meant to be set in an old sewage treatment works. If I'm able to make something interesting out of this map I might even add it to the HLDM Server Map constest. :P

Tell me what you think.

I agree with thepreacher, it would suck if someone had stolen my key when I got home with a new game. Why steal the game when you can pay for it and actually feel that you payed for something good?

Another way of seeing it is that I actually will buy the game for the 3rd time... :( The $10 fee for resetting the CD key is a joke.

Nope, never visited this forum until yesterday when I got captured by all the sample maps.

And yes, maybe that's what I was trying to do. I installed Steam now and realized I have registered my CD key already and forgot the login. >_<
So maybe buying a new copy again is the only choice for me. Too bad it's Sunday and stores are closed. :zonked:

Anyway, thanks for the reminder. I had forgot about Steam. Cheers!

Hello everyone! :glad:

I just registered here though I have been making Half-Life maps before. I just rediscovered my hobby a few days ago and I thought this forum would be nice to hang around.

I was going to try out the TWHL server but since I haven't played Half-Life in a while I reinstalled the game and when I connect to the server (using "connect 84.244.130.45:27015") the game tells me I am using build 46 and the server build 47. I tried to update the game but it sais there are no later versions to get.

Did anyone of you have this problem and how did you solve it? I would prefer not having to buy another Half-Life CD (did that 2 times before already ).

Thank you for any comments and see you around!
