thing is i suck with lights and dont know how to do them i try the tutorials and i fail miserably ..ive tried the prop static but like i said i couldnt figure out how to get the light to collaborate with it

I need a light prefab or something of a flourecent light like the ones that go into ceiling tiles not the ones with 2 bulbs. Anyone have one or can make one? i need it soon

k well sorry took so long for me to reply..have school. Anyways i made the texture 256X256...and the map compiles fine still but it closes CS and says file read error...idk im going to go through everything again b4 i might just give up

first of all i have custome textures and the biggest is 208X256 and tehre are 2 like that but heres the compile log and when its starts running CS it crashes and says file read failure

yea i fixed the problem..the map i think is neat its just that i have to find the right textures for it to look good which is going to be a PITA if anyone wants to help me find a shade of like dark purple for a wall and a lighter purple close to white but still noticeable purple for walls. The sky box had to be stretched out yea skybox..blah blah its just temporary

anyways from what i have read i need to stretch out textures and use the null texture to walls that arent going to ever be visible to the player...but i think im getter the exceeded max patches error becaues everything is basically one texture am i right?

yea title says it all...if you guys want me to post the map or send it to you i will be happy to...im making a movie theater..or my job cuz we decided it would be a fun map. But yea if u guys want me to post the map or send it to you. It has 3 "lights" but everything is one texture cuz i have to do custom textures if someone could help

well im in the process of compiling my map and its a farely large map...not like coble or anything and i says in the compile log "72 brushes (totalling 520 sides) discarded from clipping hulls. does anyone know what this means

Alirght im laughing at all you that formatted its just i think its funny ..idk i fixed it i uninstalled it and went into regedit and searched everything that said hammer ...and if it was related i deleted it and once i finished i reinstalled and it worked...but saco was somewhat right cuz i just shut the computer when i was too lazy to close the program cuz it took to long...so yea im back maping :biggrin:

yea i tried 3.5 beta and that didnt work idk ill try to download 3.3 when i get home..and yes i need to format cuz my computers being a lil retarded i need to change the motherboard battery...but idk ill try 3.3 and i really dont want to format cuz its a pain in the ass ill try a complete uninstall down to the reg edits and see ifthat works...this is so gay i had a good map going too

k well i click on the exe to open it, then it gives me the loading dialog and then it give me the mouse busy cursor for a second after the loading dialog goes away and my computer just pretends nothing happened i have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and rebooted..im using hammer 3.4 any ideas what the heck is going on :cry:
