in Idiot Goon Cop Arrests Anyone in Sight Post #226695
Playbus is right. I don't trust the news in any "he said, she said" stories. There's simply too much going on to be understood from a (biased) news article.

In my opinion: Those skateboarders had it coming to them. Cursing, resisting, and running get you nowhere with an officer. It's funny as hell when they shout "Why are you doing this?" when they give off a "fight the power" vibe with their actions.

Is there still a registry in Vista? I heard that the registry got replaced with "Microsoft XML" files.

in Recommended tickrate for HL2DM server Post #226598
Ideally it should be 100 if you've got the right setup, but i've heard that doors and props in Source games mess up at 100 tickrate.

Ant, what do you do when you want to:
  • Play Half-Life and other games?
  • Build your own computer/ buy one at a reasonable price?
  • Change the look of the GUI?
  • Install 99% of software on the market?
  • Upgrade?
  • Right-click?

The thing is, I feel no sympathy for Linux developers. Isn't open-source all about taking and contributing stuff?

To be more specific, Instant Search has been developed by Microsoft since 2004, before Apple started on Spotlight. Since Microsoft took so long to release Vista, Apple got an opportunity to use the "M$ aren't innovators, they just copy lolz" angle during keynotes. Now Google is contemplating an anti-trust lawsuit because Instant Search now pwns Desktop Google because it's right there. Irony.

Who here has actually bought a copy of Vista or a new computer with Vista and used it for some time? I'm wondering if I should stick with Windows XP for 2 more years or make the jump right now [along with a computer up to the task]. Honest reviews only please.

This sounds like it's either:

1. You have spyware which sucks up your bandwidth to do nefarious things

2. You have auto-updaters using your bandwidth (Windows, Norton, AOL, Nero, Adobe, etc)

in Safari Post #225011
Safari was good but I just like Opera's "New tab" button and lack of sub-pixel font smoothing better.

I can't gauge memory usage as IE, Firefox, Opera, and Firefox all use between 8MB to 80MB. Speed on my system seems to go: Firefox 2.0.0.4 > Safari 3b > Opera 9.21 > IE7

ZombieLoffe: It's not anti-aliased. It's some shitty sub-pixel method that makes everything looks smooth, but gives every ltter a blue, green or red edges. Seizurific!

"Basically that video teaches you about the criminal, unconsititutional neo-con empire which is using the US as an engine for global domination. Through warfare, the plan is to systematically take over the entire Middle East region and expand the superpower by setting up and arming new dictaors and so-called 'threats'.

Just recently, Bush authorised a Sunni al Qaeda group formally headed by alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed to be armed and bankrolled by the CIA. The group is to carry out "regime change" and destabalise the Iranian Government by conducting raids and bombings... Sound familiar?
LOL

Wait until some decent OpenGL on Vista hacks come out. Until then, dual-boot XP.

To Tosse: Stop spreading lies. You're still in complete control of your computer as much as you are with XP. Just don't buy into DRM'd media.

Yes it's IE7. I need it for Windows Update, any website with flash/ java/etc, and any site that generally messes up in Opera.

lol at these icon photoshopping conspiracies. Much more effort than it's worth.

EDIT: New look!

Aleinware has always sucked, Dell only bought them recently. They made solid computers, but the "alien" theme got old and their prices were at least $1000 mroe than if you built one yourself.

12.1 inches? That's a size for airline seats, not daily usage. I have a 15.4" widescreen here and it seems small.
