@Tetsu0

You can but they can take a beating while clearing you out in a matter of seconds if you're not careful. I just wasn't ready for a fight when they arrived so avoiding them was the only option.

When I'm not playing in a group in Don't Starve Together I hop on to my solo server for time with myself to cry and wonder why it was a good idea to even do such a thing.

It's autumn where mother nature isn't a threat and it's the perfect season to begin the game; find materials/supplies and begin making camp.
User posted image
A basic boxed-in setup was my first goal to keep the enemies out and it worked for the entire duration of autumn.

Come winter the temperature plummets and plants begin to freeze up and I'm now trying to keep the balance of staying warm while venturing out for the daily supply run. Then it happens.

There's a pattern of rumbles and my character Willow exclaims, "That sounded like a big mean monster man!" From the previous playthrough with mates it clearly was a giant approaching and specifically the winter Deerclops. Not taking any chances I leave camp and wait for it to pass...

... straight through my camp. I return to the mess quite salty after the ordeal.

Life goes on and throughout spring I rebuild camp, survive the torrential rain, run in to the moose giant north of camp and even marvel at the egg it lays.

Then yet another giant ruins camp and this time rummaging through my chests and fridges throwing away what isn't food and consuming what is. There goes almost 2 seasons worth of growing and scavenging food.

Too salty to take screenshots of what camp was like during the invasion I shut the server down for another day of misery.

Number 6 - out in to the skybox much like my brief adventure to the skybox.

I personally don't mind the grind as for me persistence pays off seeing as it took me three months to finally complete Banshee when she was released. I guess RNGesus really hated me.

Abe's Exoddus
Aside from the Half-Life series this was a staple game from my childhood. What constantly gets me to replay this game after all of these years would be immersing myself with the universe of where this game sits in, the story, dark humour and the brilliant soundtrack that accompanies this gem.

Crash Team Racing
I never cared that this was just a Mario Kart clone as it was and still is a blast to play over and over again. After school would have my buds and myself rushing home to begin the barrage of insults from someone using the juiced up clock power to that guy who blocked the shortcuts with red beakers.

Future Cop: LAPD
After playing the demo 5000 times over, I can safely say I enjoyed the full game. Just ploughing through the crime ridden streets as a law enforcing mech gave me the most satisfying feeling.

Resident Evil 3
This was where I started in the franchise and while most say the second one was the better one, I enjoyed this one thoroughly. It taught me to conserve ammo after playing games that gave it in abundance and also to avoid combat whenever possible. Oh and it also gave my younger self nightmares.

SSX 3
The freeride mode is just something on its own when I do not wish to compete whether in a race or for a high score. It reminds me of the days of snowboarding (I haven't gone in about 5 years) when I had my music playing as I descended a mountain of fresh snow.

Honourable mentions:
  • Abe's Oddysee (The soundtrack and atmosphere)
  • Guild Wars 1 (Story and lore)
  • Medievil (Playing as an undead protagonist)
  • SSX Tricky (The cast and set of tricks)
  • Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery (The soundtrack!)

in Free To Play Post #318343
As someone who has never followed the Dota pro-scene, I enjoyed every minute of it. I never got in to Dota back when I was in secondary school and even when I jumped on to Dota 2 in 2012, I was somehow oblivious to the competitive scene that had been going.

Watching Free to Play has made me realise just how far we've come in regards to gaming as a profession; to think that over a span of a decade we've shaped nobodies in to recognised, relateable people with a passion for games.

Well splitting the loadout isn't difficult to manage as voice chat solves that problem. Also my co-op partner is my brother and we live in the same house so we can easily just yell orders across the rooms.

As for the use of tar traps we make sure to upgrade it fully to reduce the cost to 300 and take the unique upgrade 1 to further decrease movement speed. This is for economical reasons, traps to reset especially for the bigger guys and as a last resort should some orcs slip by. It's fairly useful in practically all of the stages.

For us it was the earth lords that were easy. How we play is we funnel them (and every other orc / creature) through a "tower defense" maze of barricades complete with super slowing tar. When it reaches a wall we have a wall spike trap to fling them back to the beginning.

Should there be a low ceiling nearby we load that with haymakers and the dart things (freeze upgrade).

Not the best of screenshots but this one just barely shows our maze with the spike wall on the right and loads of tar.
