I am using an Ati Card and having no problems. Also you tried deleting youe version and getting 3.5? I use 3.5 but my system is not VISTA...

In it all. The map Idea is pretty good. I wuld just say make sure you add some good textures and try to find as most images of the interior of the Millenium Falcon as possible, so you may have a good base to work on. I am sure that in: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Millenium_Falcon you can find info on the Millenium Falcon wich can help you in making t as real as the one in the movie.

I think you can reseize in any image editing program. I do it in Paint I find it simple, it sacrifices resolution and stuff like that but I am cool with the final product. Most of the time it's nothing heart-breaking.

You checked the files in textures? I know it is a really noob error but it isn't like something that can't happen...
