thanks for the advice,
and yea i am new to mapping, although I do have a little experience making models using 3dsmax at uni, still i'll have alook a milkshape anyway. Wanted to create a kind of interactive gallery to show off some models/pics etc, thought using the halflife engine n all the tools it'b be a cool way to present it all instead of the usual flat image format, seems a little more complex than i thought but if i can intergrate this into my final major i'll have a couple of months to work on it! In the meantime i'll try n make a simple SP map.
cheers :)

cool,
ahh ok i check wally out, downloaded it but havn't looked at that one yet, havn't actually tried to make any models for the game yet, but when i do it'll either be with gmax or using 3dsmax at uni. Put a link on my profile to an email address which should be alright to post the file/s to as long as it isn't bigger than 5megs. ;)

Thanks for the warm welcome people,
(Brattylord, swan n all the monkey's!) Read what your up to in the "i got an idea" post, sounds cool and yea im up for it although I really am a newbie! I specialise mainly in illustration where im in my final year of my degree mainly using photoshop, illustrator and max as my tools. Its only in the last few days I've been tryin to get my head around modding stuff, so I really don't have much of a clue about all this terminology and how to create stuff yet or what the hells goin on!!. But im willing to have go if I can help you out in any way. Just a few questions:
1.Do you have any timescale for this? (how long do i have to work on the map, is there any theme?)
2.Is it possible to export textures i've created in photoshop n then make them into a wad? Any info or links to how this is done would be a bonus!
3.Is it possible to take models ive made in max an export them/import them into hammer as custom entities/brushes/whatever. Again any links on how to accomplish this would be appreciated.
In the meantime im gonna keep plowing through the tutorials on the quest for enlightenment!!!.....
cheers
spacemonkey :)

oh yea, sorry about the essay, just been writing my dissertation and i just get carried away at the mo!

hello people,
this my first post here, been checking out all things half life for a few days now n have to say this is one of the best sites i've found, tryin to get into makin mods/levels game design etc, thought half life would be a good starting point for all of this so here I am! Just worked through the beginner tutorials and created my first half life mod - "the pink room"! Still it might be crap but im well made up that it worked and gives me a taster of what can be done. You've inspired me big time! Anyway it's 6.14am now so im gonna crash cos ive got work in like 2 hours!! Just wanna say 'thanks' to all the people who have taken the time to put this site and tutorials together for newbie imbeciles like myself!- much appreciated, i'm sure i'll be back with some questions! take it easy, spacemonkey.......... :D
