That's too bad about the video. I was looking forward to that after seeing how good your other video reviews were. Sometimes technology fails us and there is nothing we can do.

Sorry I came back so harsh. I know that it took your time too to set up and moderate the competition and you have a lot going on.

Hopefully there will be more participants and involvment in the next competition.

It's clear that you were disappointed by the lack of entries as well as the quality of those that did enter. Out of respect for those that do enter the competitions you host please at least do a better job at posting the results in a timely manner and you could put more of a positive spin on the results for those that did spend time on the competition.

I can only speak for myself and I just feel a little empty after this exercise. I don't really care that I didn't win but just feel that you are dismissing the entries without any care of the time that was put forth.

The video will come at some point but the basic reason is none of you actually really made textures to fit the architecture which is what the competition was all about.

There were tiling textures, yes, but I wanted to see textures specifically designed for specific brushwork.

I'm sorry you were so disappointed by the entries but I think you were a little vauge in the original instructions when you wrote "making textures to fit a specific purpose".

I think we all included textures that fit the appropriate structure inlcuding lights, doors, floor, wall, crates and glass in the right places.

If the whole point of this was to design textures that architectually moved with and were created for each specific brush than you should have indicated that and I would not have wasted my time.

My entry had a futuristic theme and I attempted to demonstrate my ability to create different types of textures including, animated, translucent, environment mapped and bump mapped. From your review, except for the glass, it appears that I got zero credit for any of the texture creation techniques I used.

If the "specific purpose" was making goldsource textures for the Core then you should have explicitly said so.

LOVE your nuketown map!! Still amazed on how you incorporated the gun stations and cut scenes.

Does the issue only crop up if all 4 are activated at the same time? If that is the case, you should only need to lock out one of the awards for a short period of time when the others have been activated. You could use logic entites to keep a count of killstreaks that have been activated and when that reaches 3 you can set a logic entity to deactivate the last remaining one for a fixed period so that the game doesn't lock up.

FINAL

Here is my final version. Anyone may use the textures in the zip file for anything they might be working on. Please just credit me in the final work. There is a playable BSP file that will work in Episode 2. Let me know if you have any trouble loading it up. Two sheets of textures that I created are below the screen shots. Here is a fun little Christmas map for your holiday amusement. The Ice Castle is home to crystals that produce Christmas spirit. The terrorists are bent on destroying the crystals and ruining Christmas for everyone.

Here are a few hints and tips for navigating your way around the map:
  • The dual speed track is just like the Slideracer maps. The snowmen, bombs and Santa Furby will instakill you so be careful!
  • To control the track speed, shoot the corresponding targets over the track.
  • The Castle contains speed tubes that let you quickly go up, down or side to side. Follow the arrows for the proper direction.
  • There are also arrow ramps on the roof that let you long jump from one roof to the other. Make sure you jump at the very edge or you will miss the other side. Cross jump at your own peril.
  • There are 3 bomb sites. Site A is at the Christmas tree immediately below CT spawn. Site B is on the roof at CT spawn. Site C is located on the balcony overlooking the massive power cube in the Castle opposite CT spawn.
Strategy:
Terrorists
- If you have the bomb, try not to die on the track. It is really difficult for your teammates to locate and pick up the bomb when moving at high speed.
- With three bomb sites to choose from, try to get a jump on the CTs by finding the site they?re not defending.

Counter Terrorists
- Cover all bomb sites and get to them quickly. CTs have the advantage of getting to any bomb site faster than the Ts. It is essential to have your teammates get in position quickly to defend each bomb site and signal where the bomb is going.
- Determine where the sites are located and the fastest way to get to them. Knowing the fastest way from site to site is really important!

Secret Area:
There is a secret area in the map. It is not easy to find but I?ll leave you a Jumble.
