Funny, I guess you beat me as I had the same idea and cooked something up yesterday which basically does the same. Wanted to clean it up today ans then push it to Github.

Yours has the nicer logo though 😁

From my distant memory, did this many years ago:

Export the texture as jpg or your favourite format
open in some app like paint.net or Photoshop
switch from indexed colors to RGB -> Profit
