for a LONG time now my half life hasnt been able to be played online. It used to but now it says I need to update it but it cant find any updates. I downloaded 1.1.1.0 which it sayed was the latest but i am still unable to play internet games because it says it is out of date.?

It is absolutely mandatory for playing any HL games online now, the WON servers having shut down many moons ago.

I tryed to install steam but it sayed "unable to connect to the steam network" thats what always happens

i got steasm from that sight now but everytime i click on half life and click on internet games it says that it needs to search the internet for updates to the latest version but when it searches it says "Your version(1.1.1.0) of Hlaf-Life is out of date but there are no updates to update it to the latest versin" ... WHAT IS WRONG ? ? ? please help

Erm... you actually have to play the game in Steam?
