WARNING potential Episode III spoiler

Would you kill all your friends to save the woman you love? I thought about that, and I think I would.

Does it mean that I would become a Sith given the chance?

What would you have done?

Alas, 'Friends' is an amusing American sitcom rather than a social concept for me. :(

So I'd 'befriend' strangers and kill them...Like Jeffrey Dahmer. :badass:

Dunno. Probably not. In fact, no, I couldn't become a mass murderer to save one person. Not anyone. Well. I probably would the cast of Friends, Mephs, sorry ;).

Well, put it this way Seventh.. To save your girlfriend, she'd have to be in some kind of Danger... Also mentioned in the thread topic.. Would you kill your friends for her.. so obviously your friends are causing danger to her.. so, yep I'd step in, but not to an extent of being a mass murderer..
They can't be much friends if there gonna hurt/touch your girl! ;)

Oh, I see. In that case, they wouldn't be friends. I think satch means unconnectedly.

Yeah, even if the "friends" have nothing to do with directly harming the woman.

I don't think it's something you can plan beforehand, more of an instinctal thing.

Killing all your friends to save one?

Thats pretty much saying kill 30 people so one can live.

My answer: No, it would certinly be a tragedy if the one you loved died, but it wouldn't be worth it if everyone else would have to die instead.

Friends are forever, lovers are not.

thats my opinion.

Oh c'mon, we all know you don't have 30 friends WCD, it'd be more like 1 for 1 in your case. ;) :P

I wouldn't kill them because a good man would kick my ass and throw me in lava :

I don't know... It depends on the friends and the girlfriend... If we're talkin bout action in movies - I'd make like Schwarzenegger or Stalone and save them all. Both friends and girlfriend and after saving them i'd defeat all the bad guys and live happily ever after... :P

I am surprised that no one added
"Only if she loved me too...."
Or are we taking that for granted?

Hey satchmo, aren't you getting married soon?
June?

Yep, getting married on July 2nd. In fact, I just had the wedding shower this past weekend. It was pretty crazy...over seventy people were squeezed in one house.

Seriously though. For a woman? No, to be honest, I hold the belief that "pussy doesnt wear out"

In non-space-age-tripe context, lets say your woman is on one side of the road and all your mates are on the other. Two trucks coming opposite ways, and people will die.

My mates. Totally. A hard choice, but the women I've loved come and go, they tire of me before I do of them, and they don't mind breaking my heart.

The few mates I have are like golddust and I'd do anything for them, I'd lay down my life, even if those shiting cunts wouldnt do it for me.

I guess it all comes down to whether it's the proverbial "true love" or not. Girls who are just simply "sexual partners" don't really mean much in my dictionary.

I believe, once you met your soul mate (and I think I have), you'll be willing to do anything for her. This include killing everyone, including yourself, just to save her life.

I know it's pretty drastic, and something like this would never happen in real life. But it's a hypothetical question. None of us really will become Jedis.

I always put my friends first. Love is just a sensation caused by horomones. If you just ingore those horomones you can make much wiser decisions. I wouldnt go killing a bunch of people just because I was attracted to someone.

I beg to differ. That's not love at all.

The answer depends on what situation... If they were lying on the road i whould chose the woman if she loves me and that it whould be esier to save one then 3 or 5 people... If there was someone that theretend to kill her i whould trick him/her that i was and then eventionaly try to kill the asshole who put me in this situation...

"Love is just a sensation caused by horomones."

Cant you say any and every "feeling" is only a chemical reaction? I think we need to define love before you can let your friends die in the name of it.

An erection is a sensation (or a result of) love is something that is not tangable. I think love, true story book love, is a connection on a sub physical level. Love is under the skin, under the brain cells, under the chemical reactions in our head. Love is, or can be, something in our "soul".

As corny as that sounds... so if its love, soul mate, forever love. Then yeah, f*ck your friends they are only the moment. True love is forever.

meh thas almost poetic. But you get the idea right?
Posted 18 years ago2005-05-24 14:58:13 UTC Post #110731
I believe true love is something that you are willing to sacrifice everything and anything for, including friends, family, your own life, etc.

But even true love is a result of neuronal connections and synapses. This fact shouldn't undermind the power of true love though. Everything we experience is the result of chemical reactions, when you boil down to the most fundamentals.

How do you know if you've found true love? Well, if you did, you won't even question it at all. If there is any doubt, you haven't attain it.

I would give my life for the people i truely love. But i wouldnt go around killing people for them. I would rather take my own life than do that.
Posted 18 years ago2005-05-25 14:16:21 UTC Post #110878
just like Andy mentioned: "Only if she loved me too"

But if you killed your friends to save the woman you love, and after a while she got bored of you and left, it would make you feel really really bad.
It would be a very selfish decision, since each of your friends might have a true love of their own.
There would have to be a very important reason for you to kill them, but in that case they wouldnt be your friends so the condition doesnt apply :zonked:
Posted 18 years ago2005-05-25 14:18:24 UTC Post #110880
Well your friends love you too, not the same way, but it is still a form of love. So I'll stick by my decision.
Posted 18 years ago2005-05-25 15:00:53 UTC Post #110886
People always believe that because you're knobbing a girl you love her more than you're mates. Thats not always true. That's crap from the 1900s when the man always gets the brainless girl who is kidnapped or tied to railway lines. That wasn't true, even then, and it SURE as hell isn't now.
