env_cubemap isn't in my enities options. Where can I find it, and do I need it to run a map??

Thanks

I dont think you need it to run the map. Last I heard the cubemap just allows for those shiny surfaces you see. I could be wrong though.

No,, you're right, coldfreak!

No, alex, you do not need the cubemap to run a map,
you just use it to reflect the sky on different materials..

The env_cubemap should be found in the enities menu, have a look again. If you can't find it, you might need to get a new fgd, but I don't know where to download the HL2 fgd.

And the world. It also calculates lighting for props.

You can make any entity (let's say you make an info_player_start entity) and replace the info_player_start in the dropdown menu by typing env_cubemap. While the options may not appear for you, it will still function when you build the cubemaps.
