Hello. What is the name for the entity that has the same job as the muiltimanager in halflife1. Because I want Combines to burst through a door, but I can't time the explosion. Please tell me. Thank you

Have the trigger with a timed output, there are no entities like multi_managers nor are there equivalent entities anymore.

You can trigger multiple things now with the outputs.

outputs?
Posted 18 years ago2005-06-04 08:57:33 UTC Post #112510
Also, Can I say this, instead of creating a new thread, I will say it in this one.

1) How does the trigger_once work? In halflife1 you make a brush and tie it to entity. the make it a Trigger_once and in the box "Target" yo would name the object you want to trigger. Now, in HL2, there is no "Target" box, so how do I trigger?

2) Some of my props are invisible, I can pick them up with the Gravity gun, but I can't see them! Someimes if I pick them up with the grav gun or get really close to them They are very SLIGHTLY visible. If I move away the dissapear?

3) Can someone please tell me how to get hl2 sentences.txt. I think it's in the GFC file but GFCScape can't open properly. If someone could copy it and paste the sentences.txt on this thread I would be most happy. Then I could copy it, then keep it safe. You then could remove it off this thread because I guess it's really big and you don't want to waste space and bandwith.

Phew, that was a mouthful. Anyway, if anyone could help with the above, I would be most happy! :D

Or you could tell me another program that does the same job as GFCScape.

Oh good questions and easy to answer :)

1) I was also confused for ages until I found out the outputs tab!
In the properties click outputs and have a quick go. You will understand it well quickly but in case you don't :/

Click add, click each arrow and click the appropriate name of the entity to be triggered...

2) They are invisible cause you accidently click the circle in the middle of the props. If you make it bigger it changes the visability of it. So delete it and place a new one and I promise you it will work.

Habboi, in the sentences.txt, where are the names for Dr. Kliener and Barney Alyx and all the other guys?

look to se if there are more. And GCFScape still don't work. Does anyone have a link for a program called "steam dump". I think it's another program like GCFScape.

Does anyone else? Not just Habboi?
Oh yeah and Habboi, the map you had a look at, I am upgrading it. Does the env_explosion work? Because When I set it up it does not. :/
I'm using the trigger_once. In the outputs tab, with the box with the arrow next to it named "via this output" what shall I put in it?

GCFScape is the program to use.

Make sure your .NET framework is updated (Nem's site has the proper update.)

env_explosion seems to be buggy for some reason, at least for me. Each time I've used it in a map it seems to crash when activated.

Via This Output is what the trigger should do to the entity. Should it enable the sprite, if it's a sprite entity you're targeting? Should it play the sound if it's an ambient_generic?
2) They are invisible cause you accidently click the circle in the middle of the props. If you make it bigger it changes the visability of it. So delete it and place a new one and I promise you it will work.
Actually, you don't have to delete it, you just have to reset the fade distances (MinFadeDist to -1 and MaxFadeDist to 0).

.NET is not on NEMS site. He says you can ALSO* get it from the windows update. But I am not ever gonna upate windows. It's fine the way it is! GRRR> MICROSOFT = GAY/CRAP
  • = Also (in the way I am using it) means that it is not the only way.
So there must be another place to get it from!
Thanx anyway RabidMonkey77777777

Nem's site links to the proper update, which is @ MS's site or from Windows Update. Apparently if it's not working it needs said update, you have two options. If you don't want to update it with either of those two, can't help yah.

You don't need to use Windows Update to get the .NET framework ? I've used it in the past as a connection test, the Microsoft servers being speedy as they are.

Don't Worry Seventh-Monkey. I found a single download with only the .NET thing in! Thx anyway
