new to mapping, but managed to make good looking water from surface, but underwater its practically pitch-black. I've tried lights etc underwater, and am using one bright light (entity light) in the middle of the room. Please help me/. Thanks

never really happened with me. Are you using light entity or light_spot entity? Its usually dark underwater anyway isnt it?

Hmm.. Set the following properties for your func_water like this:
Render Mode : Texture
Render FX : 100

Now your water will be transparent and it should be bright underwater... :)

what's the render mode?
are you sure that it isn't a light_spot that is in your map? If it is then it will mess with the water.
What texture are you using? Default blue water, a Xen texture? Certain textures don't interact with water quite correctly, perhaps the texture is messing with the light.
Other than this it may be that there is something blocking the water's light filter, try backing up your file and taking out the water, see if it's still dark where the water would of been.
