Back during the last compo, my computer was acting very wierd. Every time I started up explorer.exe was hosed and I had to restart it. Plus 95% of programs I had didn't work. It was all because of HL and Hammer, because if I didn't install them, my computer would run fine. Now that I have a new kickass 2.8 ghz computer, with new hard rives and everything, should I take the risk and install HL with all my editing software again? Nothing from the old PC is in this box, but I am scared to install it again.

Of course you should. It's not at all risky; if there're problems, they'll be easily fixable.

Easily fixable, yes, but did you forget tedious? I have to re-install windows, office, video drivers, the whole shebang. If it were as easy as, "uninstall this" or "scan for that" I wouldn't be asking.

I'm sure it would be.
