We've been through this already. Apparently about 15% of our users run at 800x600, and some below even that.

ARGH! Try make all of those little details perfect, make the poll and Onliners the same width as the shoutbox. These little imperfections will make the site look nubbish. And for the last time, get rid of that puke color for news items! Make a "normal" orange like in the logo bg, with a black 1px border. And the "you've got new PM" bar shouldn't just appear when you've got a new PM, integrate it somewhere into the menu, it will look much less "intrusive".
m0p m0pIllogical.
Posted 18 years ago2005-08-07 12:05:32 UTC Post #126560
I'm quite satisfied with pm bar thingy now. But when you hit private messages it could redirect you to inbox.
Posted 18 years ago2005-08-07 12:21:47 UTC Post #126565
It's meant to be intrusive, m0p. You're meant to go "OMG PM". Using the colours in the logo in the page body makes them look pink, I've already said that, I believe.

I do agree with you on the widths, though. I'll change those both (I kept the poll the same width as the Onliners for neatness, but I'll change 'em both instead).

The poll closed, by the way. Everybody won; both Good Maps and Recent Maps are shown sometimes.

Luke i have 15" and i have 1024x768. You must be crazy not to use 1024 or higher. If it hurts you eyes then you refresh rate is teh sucks. Sometimes it goes to default when you change resolution.

Its just that im not used to it.

Ill stick with 800 x 600 for desktop and 1024x768 for games. :)

After editing a post, you get a 'done' page or such. The 'return to post' page that appears after you've posted a post might be better to display.

It gives you headaches to have a bigger screen?
I will never understand :S

But I use a 19 inch so um it's always fine no matter how it's changed.

1280x1024 is a non-standard resolution. 1280x960 is the correct for the aspect, otherwise pixels are non-square.

yes, but if the two normal slots (the Dvi or the similar) were taken, what did you plug the tv into, a s-video? composite? HDTV out?

Posted 18 years ago2005-08-17 03:46:25 UTC Post #128063
How can you use anything less than 1024 x 768?
It looks sucky.

Hehe, once me and a mate where bored and upped the resolution all the way up the slider to the maximum end, to like 2000 something x something, which was waaaaayyyyyyy more than his monitor could handle.
Needless to say it went caput for a few hours, eventually we found someone who could fix it.
Posted 18 years ago2005-08-17 03:53:53 UTC Post #128066
I can't do that for the maximum that my computer lets me choose is the maximum my screen can use!
Posted 18 years ago2005-08-17 04:22:39 UTC Post #128069
I think 100px will be the maximum height, with the width being somewhere above that; gotta experiment a bit.

Yeah, I was at work. Stupid IE. Opera noticed immediately (at home).

Could probably do with transparency, y'know. Would look natty. Gimme the double-o if you'd like it done, as you can't upload transparency-using PNGs at the moment (don't work for some reason).

And just thought, from the Broken Arrow thread or whatever, about the sizes, which has been mentioned, but colours aswell?
