Critisize! Give me suggestions! I want you to freakin' tell me how to improve it!

Some pretty nice screenshots.

Have you lifted all your columns 1 unit from the floor? (and down 1 unit from the ceiling) Couldn't quite tell from the screenshots but you may be getting extra leafs at brush intersections.

Looks nice. It'd be better in Source though :).

Is that a Matrix themed HUD? If it is, remind me to shoot you in the head.

Another City map, don't you ever do something new?

bah why do people move something by one unit. It looks nasty. Better making it func wall.
BTW the sofa looks too big.

Looks ok. I like winter maps... Anywhoo - looks kinda empty outside.. Could use some dumpsters or crates.. :

Hmm, decent.

But the sofa's are to big and out of scale.

And the glass skywalk thing could do with being tidied up a bit, it looks a bit cube like and boring.
Put some metal supports and frames into it, or make it a different shape skywalk, like a pentagon kind of shape maybe?

But you need to make it more interesting, because it's the first thing you see when you look at that screenie.

Another City map, don't you ever do something new?
I do, its just that cities are the majority. I've released two non city maps onthe AMX website for CS Deathmatch, one map that I submitted but deleted a while ago (cf_icegalaxy, not the de), and some CS gravity gun deathmatch maps (another AMX gameplay mod) which were not released at the amx website. There's also the maps I have here but everyone already knows about those. Actually.... de_full_ciy was my last city map, that was a while ago.

I appreciate the the suggestions, I'll definatly work on the walkway.
there are a few dumpsters but they are behind buildings in small spots not worth capturing in a photo, which basically goes for the crates too, but yeah I do need some placeholders.
One last thing: yes, it is a matrix hud, feel free to pillage and rape! :P

Looks nice but CS sucks.

I plan on porting it to HLDM after I'm done. Of course we all know what happens after I say I'm going to port a map to something...
What games do you play m0p? You don't seem to like CS, HL2, TS, or any other game for that matter.

Tetris!

I used to like CS but got sick of it. I do like TS, I just suck at it ;) And HL2 has good parts but is generally very repetitive and bores me after a a couple of chapters.

That's CS with a capital... oh, you did use caps :)

WCD: Looks ok. Just one recommendation: stop using those nasty old prefabs! You could easily design your own that would look much better imo.
Posted 18 years ago2005-08-26 21:44:58 UTC Post #130120
The only prefabs I've used are one trashcan and those three chairs, the rest is all me.
Posted 18 years ago2005-08-26 21:46:56 UTC Post #130122
Dood the coffe table and the couch are classics prefabs, or at least they look just like them imo.
Posted 18 years ago2005-08-26 21:54:52 UTC Post #130124
looks alright, kind of empty and boring though I say. needs some stuff outside - light posts, snowed over cars, I dunno, something to break it up.

why not use Source?

Please dont tell to map this for Source. Save everyone the trouble of me going on a never ending speech about how much I hate Source mapping.
PS: Forgot about the boffee table, thats a prefab too but everything else is mine I swear.
Cars? I will if I can spare the r_speeds in the end.

You're being told to do it for Source because you're not mapping to the constraints of the HL1 Engine. Secondly, the Source engine has the power to produce a far more aesthetically pleasing map than HL1 (not criticising your mapping). I agree with Alex and Rabid: this map would look far better in Source. It has the potential that the HL1 engine will never realise.

Frankly, I don't know why you're so bitchy about Source.

Well, custom textures are harder to do. Nothing beats Wally in that area... And the only other thing could be that HL2 takes longer to load.
In the last bunch of HLDM levels I've made, each was dedicated to some actress, model, or singer. I've had to abandon such practise when mapping for HL2. :(
I should probably read the Source Custom texture tutorial one more time, while we wait for a Source Material Editor similar to Wally

The Wally guys are apparently making a Source version. Definately can't wait for that.
