Okay, i was just flicking through some old posts and what did i keep seeing?

well im gonna clear a few things up.

Steam is run by a team of only 7 people. They keep it up and running 99.9% of the time. Almost ALL bugs and errors in STEAM games are NOT steam related. Its just an excuse for people not to admit that they dont know WTF is up with there machine.

The only bad thing about steam is you need an internet connection and many people have 1 PC incapable of running games like HL2 with the internet and one un-networked PC with very high specs.

So please, stop shouting at steam. Its actually a revolutionary idea and it saves u a lot of bother getting the updates indivually for games.

Steam ain't bad, it works just the way i want it too. I can play al games without having lockups, cache errors, Cd-Key crap, etc etc. All is fine.

I have no problem with running games through steam. it's just that steam itself eats RAM and the new hammer too.

and loading Source based games is a bit slow. other than that, it's okay. i would choose WON anyday though.

Uhh, don't forgot that Source games have to load high-poly models, hi-def textures, high quality sounds, etc. Although, I admit its slower than it should be.

Steam it self is good, but releasing games depending on steam is just,, sick!

Some people say, steam makes your ping higher, but I can't see that happening.. :S

Yeah, the Friends thing is just pathetic. The silver theme looks a lot better imo.

the only reason i hate it is because you need a worthwhile computer to keep steam running (or to have it at all), i don't have that and alot of people don't. And now because of that i can no longer play any multiplayer games...Its the only way i can connect to servers. And i can't create them

The main reason I don't like it is because of those one minute "initialisation" times sometimes when launching, when I am 99% sure that shit is scanning my computer and violating dozens of laws ...

The other reason I don't like is that when steam is down you're totally f#ck#d if you want to play CS, complete your map, play HL2 etc ...

And a last reason : I bought HL2 for Source. Source doesn't run on my comp (while HL2 is ok on). I am f#ck#d to sell it because of that lame "account" lockistration ...

battle.net (Blizzard) and arena.net (Guild Wars) are good internet video games platforms. Steam sux. And I don't need to be a computer freak to think and say it. Valve is killing CS with that shit, releasing numerous "different" versions and splitting the community again and again ...

Until I got a 1500/256 connection, I hated it.
But now I like it.
Witht the Silver pack, I just recieved Blueshift, a game I wouldn't have bought stand alone.

If you are worried about the initialization J.C. try wearing a foil hat.

CS is crap anyway.. :

The interesting thing about the "update" thing, is that most of these updates are bug fixes and patches... There is new game content from time to time (de_inferno, dm_steamlab etc), but they seem to concentrate on fixing minor bugs. It's a good thing and it helps you understand that a game is NEVER complete or flawless in the world of PC.
I really do wish they fix the water bug in HL2DM (underwater sound filter remains for the whole game when you die underwater and then respawn) because its been almost 9 months and we still have the problem. Maybe they dont want to fix it so mappers dont use swimmable water in their maps. Source water affects performance greatly, and it is wise to keep it under control, but many things could be done with it.

HL2DM seems to have a low priority, lower than CSS. That's sad, I think, because there's also quite some HL2DM players. Less than CSS, but hey... I just think HL2DM could do with some more attention, some more well-playing maps, some more weapon variation and all that.

Man, I'm starting to sound like the average CS-player...

CS mapping is limited.

CS itself is also crap.

Why? Because if you pwn your a cheater....

Most CS players take the game to serious.

They allways whine.

They allways think there uber l33t and all of that.

They allways use colt and ak.

They allways play the same maps.
The many 24/7 dust and aztec servers prove it.

There are a lot of cheaters, real ones, with aimbot, there head spin around then.

The game (CS) is much better when played with your friends on a LAN. When CS 1.4 came out, I remember that you could see who had aimbot just by using the first person POV while spectating.
I found it so disgusting that I never played the game online until I had to check out CS:Source. After some years of not playing CS, I actually found I was better at CS:S (I was actually worse, but people didnt use cheats)

CS online ---> cheater kingdom
CS on LAN ---> great fun!
HLDM online ---> tau cannon cheaters
HLDM on LAN ---> My favourite.

I don't even understand what that's for. I tried signing on last night, just to see what happens. All I got was an error message (sign-on failed). I figure I am probably not missing anything.

The Friends system was meant to see if your buddy's were on-line or not, and to chat with them. As far as I know, it never really worked properly...

The Friends thing sucks. It never signs you in automatically, there doesn't seem to be any option to do so, and you can never manage to connect manually.

It may be funny for them, I mean, I hope, because they might have a sad life needing cheats to play a game ... well, cheats were never supposed to be funny, they just provide Idontknowwhat to bored, nolife and lazy (maybe fat ?) people ...

As just said Kasperg, CS, as any game indeed, is more funny with friends ...
