Looks like a computer... sorry I cant tell how good a computer is by physically looking at it.

Heres the specs:
Pentium 4 640 @ 3.2GHz
Asus P5P800
2 X 512MB Patriot PC4000
Radeon 9600XT 128MB

PC3200, I think you mean? That's DDR400. Don't understand what the PC~ stuff is for myself. Maybe to confuse people :).

Nice Zalman, heh.

Oh, and gratters on the 800.

Nice, needs better graphics though! Wait for R520 to be released, the X850 prices will drop really low. BTW, overclock that 640 biatch! Most can hit 4GHz on the Intel stock cooler.

thats about like my laptop, only I have 512mb ram, shared with the video card. But it runs hl2 at 1280x800, my max screen resolution

Looks nice... The CPU could use some more power tho... So could the graphics... Looks powerful anyways, imo. :)

Very jealous on the graphics card part but the rest meh, i'm glad your happy, it's nice to have a good computer, welcome to our country sailor.

PC4000 is DDR500, which means that its rated to run at 500MHz. Good for overclocking.

And just to put things into perspective, my old 9000 could only run HL2 on medium at 15-30 FPS. My new 9600XT can HL2 on high from 40-100+ FPS.

My mistake. I thought DDR2 was up there with that?

Hrny, you are wrong. I assume you are using DDR1 right, since your board supports AGP. DDR500 IS NOT 500MHz. It is actually 250MHz, per channel. Usually it is in sync with your FSB (NOT 800, 800MHz is the combined speed of the northbridge and southbridge, aka bus speed). The CPU speed is governed by the FSB and multipler. Unless you have an engineer's sample or a Pentium-M, all Intel chips have a locked multi. So you will want to concentrate on FSB. FSB * multi = CPU speed. RAM speed is a little different. FSB is then passed through a ratio (3:4, 5:4, 3:2 or 1:1). 1:1 will put the RAM in sync with the FSB. Let's say the FSB is 200MHz, each channel will be running at 200MHz, and the overall speed of both channels will be 400.

No, DDR2 is a hackup job. It adds incredible amounts of latency just for clock speed. DDR1 @ 250MHz @ 2-2-2-5 > DDR2 @ 350MHz @ 4-4-4-6. More clockspeed doesn't neccesarily mean it's better. Look at Pentium-M. A 2.6GHz P-M kicks the shit out of a 4.4GHz Pentium 4 in everything but video encoding. Go figure newb.

DDR2 isn't worth the 2. i'ts just higher clock speeds. DDR3 on the other hand... :)

Im beginning the process of OCing it. Hopefully I can reach 4GHz without running a divider.

I'm not up on recent P4's, what is your multi? I'm assuming 16? 16x250 is exactly 4GHz. Your RAM may not be up to that on an Intel platform since that RAM is Samsung TCCD or Infinion/Winbond UTT which performs terribly with Intel setups. You may want to hunt down some RAM which uses Hynix B2-D43. I have got 10GB of RAM with D43 from OCZ. All of it is naked (no heatspreaders). I may be able to sell you 2GB of it if you have trouble overclocking this RAM. In general, NEVER run a divider. It loses so much bandwidth. BTW, removing the heatspreaders from your RAM will gain you a few degrees on the RAM therefor giving you slightly enhanced overclocking potential. Heatspreaders are counter-productive for thermal properties.
